Yeah they really are a bunch of slimeballs. As it's Madrid though UEFA seem to let them do whatever they like. They probably tried a similar trick with Bale but perhaps he wasn't as keen to move on as Suarez so it didn't work.... for now at least.

Is this a good time to say how much I've always loved Barça....

Anyone for a spot of Antimadridismo?

Yes, I'm taking the mature and balanced way of dealing with this....

What Levy should do is go and spend 80 million and push for the title. If we dont make it next season then we could sell GB and recoup the cost...if we make it then the CL money covers cost!

Florentino Perez - " Gareth Bale was born to play in Real Madrid "

http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2013/05/29/4013078/-

Getting to the tapping up stage now I would say

Floren didn't say that. The journalist asked him in ironic way; "Isn't the question here if Bale was born to play for Real Madrid". Floren answered; "my friend[Daniel Levy] is trying to build a title winning team there and we should respect this".
Before this, the journalist asked him; "¿Bale when? June, July or August", to which Floren said; "after the elections we have to speak to the new manager and ask him what players he want".

This is the 2nd appearance of Florentino in the media in 7 years, and if you red recent articles quoting him in the English press I can assure you that they are false. He doesn't speak to the media.

For the next couple of months this interview will be the prime source for the rags to fabricate their sensationalist stories. Also regarding this - most interviews that are supposed to be given by players and stuff are fabricated by the English rags - I seen it during the Ronaldo and Fábregas transfers, and last year with Modric was the same.

you are not in the minority at all, what message woudl it send to other players ( potential signings and current ) if we continue to sell our best players.

if Levy is serious about wanting us to compete then we need to bring in players to compliment Bale

I'd hope he'd not need anybody telling him how good he is after the season he's just had...

I am amazed by the number of fans (not necessarily on here) who keep saying its worth selling Bale if we get x amount of money and buy x players. It's such nonsense. Where do people get it from? The cash doesn't go in our bank accounts so who cares what price we get? Bale is the third best player in the world, arguably the best to ever play for Tottenham and so good that he could win the title if given the right support. Why do we always have to go two steps backward to go one forward. I want to see top footballers at Tottenham, not dozens of decent players-we pay enough for the privilege. I really thought DL would not consider selling because of the uproar from fans but it doesn't appear there is likely to be much. I feel in a minority in that I think selling Bale now would be an utter disaster.
I think those recommending selling him are only doing so because we have been down this road so many times, Carrick, Berba, Modric. Ultimately we've resisted selling them, fought tooth and nail, got a good price, and then not properly re-enforced, due to a late sale.

Ultimately even Man United cant keep a player away from Real, so what hope do we have? We may get a another season, but he'll be at the Bernabeau sooner or later.

Those advocating selling want us to identify two or three of the brightest talents in he world and stengthen our entire attack and midfield. For 60-80m quid, if invested right we could end up with one of the most exciting attacks in Europe.

Ultimately what will probably happen is the spectulation will last all summer and dominate our preparation, AVB won't know what his squad will look like, and probably Bale will stay with everyone knowing he's signed for Real next summer like Ronaldo did, and we'll get a season long swansong.

BALE SHOULD NOT BE SOLD AT ANY COST.

He is the best player we have had for ages and was the only reason that we finished with a really high points total.

Bale is better than all those sold before and younger and happier at the club. Different scenario. I honestly believe selling now is tantamount to giving up on Tottenham challenging for years to come. This is arguably Tottenham's greatest ever player, and selling him should be unthinkable. All those saying lets sell and sign so and so probably said the same about Modric, who has been chronically missed this year and not even close to replaced. Nor has Berbatov ever been replaced, come to think of it. Bale represents a chance to finally put Tottenham back among the big clubs. It's time for some ambition. This chance won't come back quickly.
He has been settled, but why is his agent courting Real on Spanish TV? I think ultimately he'll give us a swansong year, but if Levy tries to play the big man the power shifts next summer when he's for two years left l, and there's no way Dan the man will let his contract run down to less than that.

Look, I want him to stay, and I think we'll get another season, but we should be planning for life without him now and identifying a handful of the most talented young players and using the fee to make sure we build a fantastic side. Managed correctly, selling even the best player can leave you in a strong position. In the past we've been so concerned with ringing out top dollar we've been left short for the upcoming season.

Yep. This summer DL has wiggle room. Short of an outstanding season, an even then the odds are heavily against us managing to rustle up 200K a week for Bale, he's off next summer. DL will then do what he always does. Squeeze the maximum amount of juice out of the deal and we'll move on.

Signings are key and offer on table! Yet to be signed but terms are ok!

Bale is right to want guatentees on Tottenham trying to kick on and compete with the 4 clubs above them

If he doesn't like what he hears he should move this summer. Why should such a talent waste his time for another season just to struggle to keep his club where it currently is, on the outskirts of the promise land

We have a truly world class talent at our club. The Chairman should try and add to that talent instead of mugging us off with the likes of Sig/Holtby/Dempsey

Although we are a million miles ahead from the squad Teddy Sherringham had to play with the principal is very much the same and I for one would not blame Bale for choosing to leave if he were to see the writing on the wall!!

With our spend over the last few years and the new stadium finances being looked at I cannot see us spending the money needed to help Bale & Co challenge for the League & Europa Cup which is a shame because with Bale and a few more better calibre signings we possibly could
