I’ve come here for the discussion about what type of player he is so…

…anyone have any idea what type of player he is (ideally beyond just World Cup matches)? ??‍♂️

Based on the stats and clips he's much more of a skilful dribbler than any of our current CMs (99th percentile for dribbles in the top 5 leagues) and operates a bit higher up the pitch, so would offer us something different.

Not got great defensive stats, though - seems to be more of a ball carrying, attack-minded player.

I defer to anyone who has actually watched much of him, though. I'm just a schmuck looking at Youtube vids/stats, with vague memories of Morocco games in the WC.

Honestly surprised by this because physically speaking he is the opposite of a Conte player. He’s certainly a very exciting prospect who’s fantastic with ball at his feet but when I’ve seen him pre World Cup I always thought his passing and vision were lacking to be a playmaker. Bit then again, maybe we aren’t looking for a playmaker. But there are others on here who follow the French league closer than I do.

Really tho, as much as he can ride a challenge, I’d be surprised if this is who Conte want’s considering he’s not any more physically suited to the pl then someone like Gil.

He also has no end product at the moment which you'd think would put Conte off him. He needs a lot of time to develop as a player. I'm not sure he'd solve our creativity issues for example and I don't think he could play in the 2 man CM in the 3-4-3.

I'm no longer sure this is the end game plan tbh. Looking more and more like a shift to 3-5-2 once we have the required WB's

Here comes all the negative stuff in him. From what I have seen, he is exactly that difference maker we need.

Not being negative just analysing. He looked pretty good in the World Cup but in what way do you feel he is a difference maker?

He doesn't provide goals or assists yet and isn't an amazing lockpicker or passer.

Looks a very talented midfielder and ball carrier but I'm just not sure he's a difference maker, YET anyway.

I love these types of signings as I love developing younger talents but I'm just not sure how he would fit in with Conte's preference in players who are experienced and ready to deliver.

Presumably with us playing Deki in a CM 3?
From the outside looking in I'd say so, as the more advanced of the three. I would imagine this guy(should we get him) would be his understudy/rotation. The more different names I hear linked the more it looks like a shift away from 3-4-3. At the moment we have no other way of creating anything from the right which is why we have been playing this way and it's why we are still looking at more or less CM options that can play forward than outright AM's.

All imho of course.

He carries the ball well ,draws players to him , I think he is exactly what we need someone who will drive us forward as oppose to all this side passing.
what may happen we don’t sign him , then a top 10 team does and wel look again in a years time then he will cost a fortune,he can’t be any worse than we already have .
im all in

Conte was talking after the Villa game about not having many creative players who can beat a man. Ounahi certainly has those attributes.

Yeh it would make sense. Ounahi is great and offers something different to our current crop of 4 + Sarr but if we’re only playing 2 there every game then having 6 bodies (and 6 really good ones, we have really good midfielders) is a bit overkill.
