I thought that was a really good away performance. Very impressed with Soldado, his work rate was good and it was a great finish for his goal. Paulinho was immense and Townsend lived up to the hype. Can't really understand how anyone could be upset with what was a solid day's work.

On the first goal - did holtby duck to avoid blocking a potential soldado flick or to dummy the cross?

Looks a very intelligent dummy!

Looked like a duck to me, and there was no flick of the head to suggest he was trying to head it in either.

I don't know why people never seem to be satisfied with a win. Just because a team is not ManCity, ManU or Chelsea doesn't mean we will walk over them away from home. We are in transition still, players are understanding the pace of the game, we got spanked two weeks ago; I therefore don't see why we should be expected to play like Barcelona all season. I would rather win ugly when teams play on the counter attack than lose trying to play attacking football when we leave ourselves open at the back.

It's fucking horrid mate. When we lose the world caves in and there's dozens of threads bemoaning this and bemoaning that, yet when we win there's very little activity and still there's a strong scent of unhappyness in the 'two' relevant threads (matchday and ratings).

Those that complain are just typical of modern society in that they are only happy when they're moaning. They really do give old ladies a run for their money. Moaning wankers (oh and I do appreciate the irony in how I convey this view).

Quite an underwhelming match in truth capped by a lovely goal from Soldado. Not going to gripe too much as a win away at AV is nothing to complain about. Saying that, I'm really struggling to see what Sig brings to the team. Would rather see Eriksen left or ideally Townsend. Was quite surprised by Lennon's introduction on the left as well. I really hope AVB benches him next week. Amazing to think that we will probably start a midfield of Chadli, Eriksen and Lamela on Thursday.

Anybody who is not happy - just cast your mind back two weeks...............

Full marks to AVB and his boys by the way - got them sorted and controlling the match from the kick off today.

Seen better first halves, but I liked the second.

The first half was very limp attacking wise, but maybe that was exactly what avb set out to do. Keep the ball, keep it tight and shut villa out of the game first half.

Second 45 we picked it up, holtby got in the game and we dominated. Bit disappointed we didnt kill them off more though, after bobs goal we shouldve had another couple at least, andros was tearing them apart.

Very happy with the performance, what else do you want for an away performance?

Ninety minutes of 'ole' passing, 36 pass moves ending with us scoring a tap in, chance after chance being created, total domination of the match from first whistle to last and no less than four goals. At least one of these should be from 30 yards out.

Anybody else get irritated by Villa's behaviour particuarly towards the end there was a moment where the moose was getting kicked all over the place when the guy made no attempt to get the ball.....(well at one point looked like he went to kick Moose's balls!) Then obviously the two very blatent fouls on Andros at the end, it seemed to come from no where. Was already pissed off with Delphs constant moaning asking for a yellow card to some how even it up for what was a bad challenge on Holtby.

Anyway quite proud that the smallest player on the pitch decided he would act when the ref didn't....Lennon the enforcer! lol

Don't forget Siggy and Naughton to be guillotined prior to kickoff

Apparently the linesman that was hit by the flare today was the same lino that did not give the Pedro Mendes goal at Old Trafford.

He didn't actually say it though. That's a misprint in the live text commentary. He said Defoe was sharper but that Soldado was maybe playing more as he was better at linking up. He said shortly after that there was a case in point when Defoe ignored Lennon.

I feel faintly dirty defending Keown though it has to be said.
I therefore stand corrected and thank you for the correction. I was relying on thee text as I was at a wedding.

I believe that AVB still does not know his best starting eleven, so to be three points off top spot isn't too shabby.

For sure though creativity in the last third of the pitch when Townsend does not have the ball is the problem that AVB must resolve.
That he might not know his first eleven is not very surprising given the number of new players we've brought in. Or it might be that with our squad there's no such thing as a first eleven.

Old ladies?
Or old men too?
In fact is it anything to do with age?
Maybe attitude and temperament?

Agreed, there may well be a desire by AVB to bring players in on a match by match basis, but there should still be enough talent avaiable to play a left footed player wide on the left surely? The last two games have showed our lack of width does handicap our game and use of The Soldier.
