Hahaha! I actually laughed out loud when i saw the story & picture in The Guardian

Asda has defended a "wearable England flag" the supermarket has launched for the World Cup, after criticisms that it resembles a Ku Klux Klan outfit.

The £3 St George's Cross, with the word England on the red cross, features a hood which the supermarket says is to allow fans to stay dry in the unpredictable British weather.

But some fans took to Twitter to point out there were similarities with the hoods worn by the racist US organisation, also known by its initials, KKK.

So it makes you look a berk on several levels.

I imagine the world cup merchandise is going to start getting mental now, so anyone found any other funny/inappropriate crap being hawked during the competition?

It does make you wonder what they were thinking during the design process.

I hope they don't find out I have white bedsheets at home. They might think i'm secretly a grand cyclops or something.

Just to be sure the context is er correct.

Was the flag cape design only available for England? or is there a flag cape design for some other of the teams? (ya know, the ones who might sell a few units)

Edit: Actually I just took a look. They're available for all teams (not specifically Asda), they're just cheap imports from China and not strictly Asda designs.. D'ya reckon they're taking them off the shelves in Japan?

I find it more amusing that we associate it with kkk when half the world would associate it with a priests garb. Big fuss over nothing in my opinion, and just a journo looking for a story where there isn't one on a slow news day.

It's almost like Chris Morris weadled his way into the ASDA sales team and set this up as a Brass Eye style joke. Imagine if we lose on penalties again and hundreds of drunken idiots in these flood the streets chucking their glasses at some Italian/Portuguese/Italian (delete as appropriate) restaurant. Almost too perfect.

You do know Japan and China are different countries, right?
