He hasn't played in a top league for 3 years and there is better out there.

I think signings have to fall in 2 categories for the first team
The player is better than what we have at the moment (i.e. continuous improvement)

or

If a player is coming in as back up it has to be in a position we have no cover in(LB) and he is an experienced top quality pro that is cheap

Gyan fills neither of those categories for me and he fell out with his last boss over money and he is earning shitloads in UAE

Lets not forget what happened last time he played in England. That would be a poor investment of time and money.

agree to an extent but its not like spurs haven't ever taken a chance on an egotistical forward. And, by your own criteria, i think he improves our first 11 and i think he would be a great inside left forward and cover the no9 role. And id kick off if i lived in Sunderland. Pet

I don't know who gave spam for this comment. Seriously ? Disagree but why Spam ?

Anyway, my take on Gyan....
He is a good player - no question about it IMO.
He would suit us at forward left position - no question about it IMO

But, we need to look at the circumstances on how he left. He basically fought his way over to Al Ain.

Yes, we had players fighting & going to other clubs like Modric or Berbatov. But there is a difference.
In both of these cases, they went to a team arguably better than us and had more chance of glory & money. But Gyan's move was purely money minded.

I do not want someone who is morally bankrupt in this way. There will be no joy for him & for us watching him.

I will pass on the chance to sign him.

He's on £130k a week AFTER tax at the moment, so I'd have to contest your assertion that he'd be affordable.

59 goals in 47 games in UAE, he must be taking the piss out there all over the place, he was a good player IMO very unpredictable and prone to inconsistency. Would he be worth sticking in my WC Dream Team thou? Hmmmmmm :)

Just out of interest, why is wanting to make the most of your career 'morally bankrupt'?

These guys do it for a job and have to retire by mid-thirties. So what's the problem with wanting to maximise your financial potential?

You think any of our foreign players play for us because of a love for the shirt?

No, you're right he should have stayed at Sunderland, that would have been the honourable thing to do

Its possible. He has a very persuasive agent in Father Teds Mrs Doyle.
Levy "We don't really want him!"
Mrs Doyle "Oh Gyan gyan gyan gyan gyan gyan gyan gyan"
Lvey "but"
Mrs Doyle "Gyan gyan gyan gyan gyan gyan gyan......."

Its ok mate.

You can say Real Madrid and Manchester United are bigger than us. No one will mind or argue.

That's because , football is a sport not a business "in its purest sense". So, if a player picks up a fight & moves just for money its unethical IMO - because I see it as a disrespect to the very thing he does for a living.

This is just my opinion, of course, I respect your views but do not agree it though.

Pretty left-field suggestion Mr Flynn.

I doubt he's on the radar though.

It might be just a sport for you Arunspurs but for these guys it's very much a job and one they've spent their lives dedicating themselves to at the expense of other opportunities (like further education). That's not a matter of opinion.

Sorry, but to label someone you don't know know as 'morally bankrupt' for making the most of their opportunities in life (something you'd probably do yourself if you were in their shoes), is in fact real moral bankruptcy being the definition of hypocrisy, and I don't respect that opinion at all.
