Totally superficial post. I said he goes missing during a lot of games, and you interpret that as if I'm saying he's always ineffectual. Did you miss the part where I highlighted all his strengths?

and not even that is the extent of your superficiality. Did I not make it clear enough that the alternatives I suggested were off-hand examples? I'm not saying we should sign guys like Modric, I'm saying we should target players of similar ilk & play-style.

Fair point. If he scored goals throughout the rest of the 90 minutes like he does in the last 3 we should be able to expect about 30 goals a game from him by my reckoning. Poch needs to tell him to pull his socks up and maintain that level of performance. Silly me for defending a player that has lit up our season and that we should be thanking our bloody lucky stars still seems to be enjoying playing in a Spurs shirt.

I'm also fascinated to know where these players are that can perform to the level of Eriksen only more consistently and who are queueing up to join Spurs to help him out. Can we have a list? Or maybe just forward it directly to Mitchell and Levy. They'll be kicking themselves for missing them up until now I'm sure.

We should change our shirt colours to a dark colour, most of the successful teams in sport wear dark shirts, England 66 is proof. Not red though, never red, purple or dark blue.

Yup Ive heard Real Madrid have heard your post and will be removing the white from their kits forthwith..who'da'thunk it.

As expected from the superficial; you interpreted my posts as criticism of his game when that wasn't the case at all.

I have nothing but praise for Eriksen. For him to be as statistically strong as he is in our sluggish, 2-DM game-style is nothing short of impressive. With that said, I think he'd be a lot better if we brought in another high-quality creative midfielder, because we'd both function better as a team & it would ease the responsibility we place on him, which is currently very heavy, and results in him going missing in games more often than it should.

I think Tim Sherwood was a decent manager too, and was tactically aware. I also liked the fact he was a bit of a prick.

I think Townsend IS showing signs of changing his game and improving his decision making. I also think at times has an amazing first touch.

I want to see Tom Carroll in our first 11 next year.

David Howells was one of the worst players to wear the Tottenham shirt.

Interesting that you state this

I have nothing but praise for Eriksen.

When only moments earlier you'd mentioned in the ITK thread;

GodfreyJones said:
As for Eriksen, I know for a fact that just about everyone here will disagree, maybe even dislike the thought, but he's a player who fades in & out of matches. When he has space, he's lethal, without question, and when his confidence is up, he works himself into space very effectively, however when teams clog the areas he likes to work in, or we're struggling to win possession as a team, he goes into his shell a bit, and becomes somewhat ineffectual. He lacks that cutting edge/killer instinct required to create/score opportunities under any circumstance consistently, like a Sanchez from Woolwich or an Eden Hazard.

Sounds suspiciously like something other than praise to me.

Even more interesting that you come up with this in a week where he scored two goals in a semi-final, another in the Premier league and has had pundits purring about his class including the MOTD team who went out of their way to highlight his significant contribution across the entire 90 minutes.

Anyway, I'll stop now and leave you to the unpopular opinions thread. Something tells me you're going to feel very at home in here.

Woah, you've gone to the trouble of bolding those claims in my post in an attempt to suggest I'm being critical of him, completely ignoring the context they were used in. Good job on being the precise definition of superficial.

and yes, shame on me for expressing an honest, thoroughly explained opinion; I should be conforming to what the media are saying like a mindless sheep who can't think for himself.

Any more wisdom to bestow, Albert?

I don't think Eriksen is good enough to play for Madrid right now, if he continues his development then in about two seasons he will be.

It's a bit of a flawed post anyway, as England have always worn white. England got to the final wearing white shirts and only wore red in the final because West Germany wore white, so we got lumped with the red change kit.

As a rule, any team with a white home kit will have a darker away kit, just to justify the contrast.

I still don't think much of our home kit this season. Would refer something a bit 'simpler'

I've not taken to it massively, bought last season's electric blue one though.

I used to have all the shirts, had the yellow pony/hp one as famed by Gerry Francis wearing it as a manager (lol).

Shirts those days looked so daft, flapping in the wind eight sizes too big

I could only afford them 2nd hand - I got the yellow in XL from a charity shop, and the purple one in small. Neither fit me. lol

I got my Tottenham yellow one im talking about at a jumble sale at a church in Penge South London for 50p i think it was. I think the bitch was mugging me off knowing how much i wanted it with a wee glint in my eye because i got on official Brazil shirt from 74 and a adidas tennis shirt for 10p each on the same day. Jumble sales was the flavour in my day, wasnt really many charity shops about. But trust me I know what you went through :) ....but good days still.

So we got 5 million for Naughton, Levy is feeling pretty flush and looking to spend our 'war chest' and I read that we are looking to sign 18 year old midfielder Dele Alli. I think this is a case of just buying a commodity that may double or triple in value rather than us buying a player that we need.

We're almost totally dependant on a 21 year old striker at the moment and that's who you want to buy with the little money we got? Another central midfielder?

Some people never learn.

None of our central midfielders are good enough. We buy a young midfielder who hopefully has potential (like a few of our other midfielders) to build a midfield that can be good enough. We aren't going to be able to buy a top class central midfielder in his prime so this is the best route for us.

I think we fucked up bad by not bringing in an AM reinforcement/recalling Pritchard. I think that was a death sentence to any hopes for pushing for top four and/or winning a trophy this term. The aggravating thing is we really wouldn't have had to spend much to make the requisite addition - or even anything at all to recall Pritch - and IMO the increased likelihood for achieving honors would have been well worth it. Massive mistake IMO.
