I am hoping the Australia Tour can be the catalyst for Alex to show his worth. With Son going to Olympics, Chadli looking likely to depart to Swansea, Njie going on loan to Marseille and new boy N'Koudou not being PL ready, Alex has a opportunity to break into the team and make that LW/LAM position his.
Pritchard has not been included in the tour squad. Looks like he is on his way.

Big shame we never got to see him much, that u21 injury really happened at the wrong time for him

If he goes hope he makes it, We've been good at promoting youth so I'm sure we have our reasons

I notice how posters name possible replacements for Pritchard, Chadli etch if they leave, but none of those have contributed anything worth replacing last season?

What im saying is that if we sold Carroll, Pritchard, Clinton and Chadli right now, would we really be any weaker? In my opinion we would just get a more lean squad, especially if we plan to give Edwards and Onomah any real playing time this season.

If the new chap from Marseille is good, he alone would be enough to replace all 4 of the players i mentioned earlier. We still would have Eriksen, Lamela, Son, Mason and Alli in addition to N'koudou and our own young homegrown players for 3 AM positions.

edit: With Wanyanama and Bentaleb back, we also could move Dembele further forward if needed to.

Essentially Alli and Onomah exceeding expectations 11 months ago.

Indeed. It's trimming our soon to be 10 AMs, back down to a more optimum 7

yep, probably right there.... Alli's rise must have upset the pecking order quite a bit, I wonder when we bought him if he was looked at as a development player or a starter?

At the time I assumed it would be as a development player

He was fast tracked in though - it could still be that the intention was for him to be a development squad player but just impressed so much so quickly he was brought straight through.....but I think it's more likely that he was brought in as a kid who was already first team ready (though I'm sure he still exceeded expectations with his performances over the year)

I don't see Bentaleb in the squad for Australia?

Because I want him to stay, I'm going to tell myself he hasn't gone to Australia as Poch wants him training with the returning internationals because he is above playing with the kids on tour...Yeah, that must be it...

Grant Ward is injured. You've also forgotten about Bentaleb
