Nah, apparently it's not as yet.

Think it's crazy personally, but I guess someone at the club knows something we do not.

Explains why we haven't yet pulled the trigger on an alternative CB. Once we commit elsewhere it's game over on this deal and being Conte's top target I guess we are giving it as much time as we can.

I assume that this is entirely down to PSG and Skriniar. The question then comes round to, if PSG decide not to go for Skriniar, do Inter sell Bastoni or Lautaro. Dybala certainly seems to be put on ice now and Bremer seems to have stalled.

I think there's two opportunities:

1) PSG back out of Skriniar - could be possible if Galtier has different plans.

2) Zhang wants to sell more players than Marotta wants to - He could be looking at two ~£50m bids on the table for Bastoni and Skriniar with good cheaper replacements on the table in Bremer and Senesi/Hermoso and want a piece of that action.

As for Dybala looks like they might have chosen Lukaku over him and will let him go now.

Edit - Listening to the new podcast from The Athletic and they basically say the same as Trix re Bastoni. As such you have to assume we haven't been rejected by the player. Makes sense why everything has gone quiet on the LCB front.

Makes sense to wait until we know it’s 100% off the table. Inter’s deadline is only a week away, it would be a different situation if this could run to the end of the window.
This time next week the button will be pushed on either Bastoni or plan B (not the rapper).

Good thing is with Paratici and Conte they will know well the situation with Inter. Conte has inside knowledge and Paratici has a lot of connections over there. Would be crazy if we do get him but not the first time a players agent has said someone is staying before they get sold soon after. If he wasn't Contes top choice we would have moved on by now. Hopefully we can get an alternative early July if this one doesn't happen in the next week or so.

Think that even if this door is slightly open they will wait. I guess if Skriniar to PSG completely collapses, Inter have no choice but to sell Bastoni as Marotta emphasized that a defender will need to be sold. Once Skriniar to PSG is done then I'd imagine we move on to Gvardiol, Botman etc

We should cut our losses and get the f*ck away from this guy - never going to happen, not even sure he's worth the premium we seem to be happy to pay

Whilst nothing is moving with our backup targets we are ok to wait - that's different to the forward situation where Arsenal are clearly making a big move for Raphinha forcing us to make a decision.

Surely there has to be a cut off point where we say enough is enough, & press on with our alternative target, before pre season starts.

Of course there will be a cut off point. But maybe we'll afford a little longer given that Bastoni appears to be a Conte top target.

The strong media links to alternatives went cold which probably suggests we have alternative deals ready once we know unequivocally this one is off.

I guess there is a known deadline when either we or they will blink and we move on and we’re comfortable with that deadline.
