Here’s the article. Reads like we are trying to get Inter to drop their price via saying the player is having doubts more than anything else. I don’t think there’s much more to it than that.

Having tried and failed to get Skriniar and Martinez over the line the past two summer windows, if we don’t get Bastoni we should just forget trying to do business with Inter.

Maybe, but I don't think their original asking price was ever an issue. Of course with every deal you don't just outright agree to pay what they ask, but it wouldn't be what was holding the deal up if they were standing firm on it. It's more likely that they are trying to squeeze a bit more which again wouldn't be a surprise. The fact is they have to sell players(and that is indeed a fact), and Bremer is going to have other suitors if they delay too long. Still think(opinion) this could well be done before the week is out.

As is their right, Inter are just trying to get the best outcome for themselves. In this instance they need to raise money which is why they are considering selling Bastoni if they can get a very decent price. I don't think they actually want to sell him as they would like to keep him in the team, but it's just that he's a convenient player to cash in on and they can replace with Bremer for a lot less money. If another team came in with a £100M bid for Martinez that would solve their financial issues, then that would likely shut the door on Bastoni's exit. Much like Lukaku's sale last summer allowed them to hold on to Martinez etc.

My point in response to your post is that we shouldn't take it personally if we don't get Bastoni. That would just be Inter doing business elsewhere that suits them more favourably.

Inter's financial year end is 30th June. I'm guessing they need to be balanced by then so not to break any covenants that they have on their borrowings. It's a game of poker which they can't keep up too long unless another club becomes seriously interested!

Can’t blame them really if they are desperate for the cash.

Yeah, its all a bit Man City, getting in a huff because a team won't sell their best player for cheap and within a week of the season ending.

I wouldn't worry too much yet mate. They have to sell players, and that is a fact.

Wouldn't be the first time a Journalist has thrown a twist in based on little more than not knowing what's going on and needing to keep putting things out. Lets wait and see. They were fairly advanced with Bremer and they have no money so I'm not too worried just now.

Sorry, I know we shouldn't ITK bash but seriously mate.... as if Matt Law would ever do something like that...

Damn I was really expecting Inter to be happy to sell and all reports from Bastoni to be that he wants to leave. It's almost like they want to part ways on good terms.

A bit hypocritical coming from a Spurs fan, no?

FWIW, think AC Milan are also interested in Bremer so really is in Inter’s interest to get things done quickly

Can't see this happening but to be honest i'm not so bothered there's plenty of good LCBs available. I'm sure we'll move on if this drags on another couple of weeks.

Of course not every club with any sense will try and get as much as they can.

I agree but Inter are a slippery club and what we don’t want to happen again is what reportedly happened with Martinez. We were confident of getting him? only for Inter to sell Lukaku instead. For all we know they could be negotiating to sell one or two other players again = no need to sell Bastoni. I think this is one deal where we need to be aggressive and get it over the line before Inter get chance to drag it out and play silly buggers again.

The only good thing so far is that there are no concrete Bastoni to elsewhere links. So if Inter sort their shit quickly, we might be able to land him straightforward.

Can't tell much from that. We could get a heap of links to an alternative within the space of a few hours imo

Yeah hard to see how they can possibly sanction a Lukaku deal, even with the massive wage-cut, without letting Lautaro go...which kind of defeats the entire point.
Because Chelsea sill owe them most of the original transfer fee?
