Conte needs to work his magic and convince the player himself that as manager he’s not going to leave in 12 months time and leave the player somewhere he doesn’t want to be.
A vital component. If I were Bastoni, this part would make me weary. It's hard enough for Italian players to leave Italy. If he's leaving to be with Italians, then, okay, but if those Italians won't be around for very long, which is very likely, he'll be stuck in England for years.

If Bastoni isn't leaving Inter, why are they chasing Bremer ?

Doesn't make sense. I reckon Bastoni is outta there.

They are losing De Vrij who is about to become FA. Even if Bastoni was certain to stay they would try to bring Bremer. Luckily for us Suning group love huge profits and will probably look to sell Bastoni.

Quite funny considering De Vrij literally means "the free".

Without seeing the direct Dan kilpatrick quotes and only aggregators on here I would be wary. Also don’t forget kilpatrick is hugely pessimistic in everything he writes.

Let’s wait and see for news from Italy. If it’s true he is getting cold feet the journos over there will be on it as quick as mozzarella on a pizza. We all know they love to piggyback on a story.

Get Sonny to FaceTime him and I’m sure he’ll be on the first flight to Heathrow.

Not knowing too much about either player, why are Inter so desperate to sign Bremer and seemingly happy to scerifice Bastoni to do so?

Do they simply feel Bremer is the better player or is there more to it than that?

They will def try, by all accounts they stopped negotiations with Dybala to try and get Lukaku. which works for me because I still want Dybala here. But your spot on, the only way it happens is if they get rid of Lautaro or Bastoni. Even then the same remit applies as it did for Dybala, they have to get rid of Sanchez and Vidal as their contracts are too big.

Inter are stuck tbh, on the one hand they will want to draw this out and promote a bidding war for whoever they sell, on the other hand they need to sell quick because they can’t buy without selling. Even if they offload some bit part players. I wouldn’t get too concerned yet about this Bastoni deal, it can’t run on all summer.

My only worry atm is who else might start sniffing because Bastoni is that good. For example if Chelsea start lurking and offer them a favourable loan on Lukaku as part of the deal it might get Inter thinking. This is where I think Conte will be our ace up the sleeve because as I mentioned in the ITK thread, Bastoni wont really want to leave Inter and is very much being pushed out. If he’s going to leave I can see him most keen to go and work with the manager he values and credits with his development.
Yeah I would hope that even if Chelsea came in for him, we would have the pull to get Bastoni over them.

He's very clearly our number 1 choice and we've gone in hard for him, while Chelsea are off looking at other options. I think having a manager like Conte that he knows would massively help him to adapt to the move and give him confidence in the project too.

Inter need the cash, so I think they are looking to wheel and deal a bit. They don’t want to sell Bastoni, but they see him as the best bet to allow them to stay competitive.

It's simply about price and cutting costs. They need to make 60m Euros this summer, so selling Bastoni and bringing in Bremer instantly covers half of that, while also bringing in a good defender as a replacement.

If money wasn't a concern Bastoni would only be available for like 90-100m Euros.

It’s cash flow problems, selling Bastoni for 60 and bringing in Bremer helps financially.

What I think will happen is we will see some more concrete Bremer to Spurs links now as Paratici will be looking to play the same game as Inter from a different angle. I think we will hear Bremer move to us, will feel quite accelerated and then suddenly Inter will take hold of it and then Bastoni will be back on the menu.

You could well be right. It'll be very interesting to see how this all pans out, but my fear is that time is so short. Conte will need whoever it is to be with us through an entire pre-season. I'm sure also that the club will come under pressure from some fans for dragging its heels over this, but in all honesty, we're not the ones driving the car.

It seems that Bremer is cheaper and Bastoni, while he's loved by the fans, isn't one of their manager's favourites so is viewed as an acceptable loss by the club.

I think this is crucial. It may not matter so much to Perisic as he is 33 years of age and Bastoni is really just starting out in his career and if his main reason for change is to work with Conte again, who only has 12 months certainty in his contract, then he would clearly worry about the move.

De Vrij’s contract doesn’t run out until summer 2023.
