£51m for a player of his quality is perfectly reasonable. With targets such as Eriksen, Perisic, Kostic, and Spence all available cheaply, I think we’re in a position to splash big fees on two or three players while filling out the rest of the squad with shrewd acquisitions. Do it IMO.

£51m for one of the best young defenders in Europe, who has played for Conte and specialises in a back three, is completely reasonable imo.

Gvardiol will be going for similar and Torres wouldn't be much cheaper by the sounds of things. Just pay it and focus on bringing in Eriksen/Perisic/Kostic/Spence etc as they're all frees/cheaper deals anyway.

There's been a lot of chat from AG etc that LCB is a position we're prioritising so hopefully we're prepared to pay a decent fee for one. Fingers crossed.

Probably a good thing that it needs to get done quickly anyway as it would be a big relief and if he doesn't come we can spend the rest of the summer knowing who's available.

Yeah but thing is they don't actually know, none of them do. I mean it's certain likely to be the case, but when you have numerous options in numerous positions at varying prices it's impossible to know which of the permutations we will end up with.

That is £51M, which I think it is a bargain for a world class LCB who is 23 and will get better. Him and Romero playing for us for the next 5 years. Not sure what we're waiting for.

Agreed. I assume it comes down to how much Conte wants him. If he is the number one target then you pay £50-60m on him. Like you said there is probably a very small window for him.

How many years ago did Liverpool pay £75m for VVD? This is worth it IMO.

Plus if Inter are looking to sell then surely they’d wait and see if Chelsea want to bid and see if they can push the price up. It’s not going to happen quickly I wouldnt think just because of that.
