I have to admit that I didn't rate him at all when he was at West Ham but what has happened this season at Newcastle is quite amazing. When he took over the job, Newcastle fans were not too happy, they thought he was simply going to be Mike Ashley's puppet and the whole thing was soured even more by the unfair (at the time) sacking of our very own Chis Hughton.
I don't know who's in charge of signings at Newcastle but they've turned a corner in a big way. Gone are the days where they paraded marquee signings for high fees, they've been replaced by what looks from the outside, a sensible transfer policy. Andy Carol left for £35m and was replaced by free transfer Demba Ba, we all know the story, it must be the best piece of business done for a long long time. Tiote and Cabaye are also proving to be brilliant buys and they have the likes of Obertan and Ben Arfa who have bags of potential.
It would surely be harsh to say that Pardew has been lucky in the respect that his signings have hit the ground running, they are playing some great football at the moment and that doesn't just happen without good coaching.
What do you lot think about Pardew? Have the signings all been his or do they have a DOF system? I'm not sure what that Lambias chap does behind the scenes apart from wind up the Geordie faithful. I really disliked Newcastle before they went down but their fans seem more humble now and they're a good team to watch again. I can't help but enjoy their resurgence, even though it makes me feel a bit dirty.
