Article on Sky Sports using newspaper extracts from an interview with Adebayor. By the looks of it he could have said far worse.

Palace could be a good place for him to round of the season and give them some firepower, everyone knows when he is on his game he scores goals. Shame it wasnt consistent enough for us and when he was bad, he was bad.

No goals at the weekend please Manu

"But at the end of the day, I know where I am from. If you want something, you have to stand strong for it, and I stand strong for what I think."

Like £170k a week rather than merely £100k a week.

Nah can we not sing the one we use to about his dad washing elephant's etc

Seriously? That's really not funny.

I've got nothing against Ade. We knew what we were getting when we signed him and he scored some great goals for us. If people have to sing about him I hope they'll just stick with Adebayor, Adebayor, we're the greatest club you've ever played for. And let's face it, Adebayor isn't the only player for whom Levy made leaving very difficult even after it was obvious their services were no longer wanted. Sometimes it pays off like Palacios to Stoke and sometimes we take a bath like with Gomes and get nothing and nearly ruin a player's career. I can't blame those players for being bitter about getting fully Levied.

Besides, you know he's going to score against us. Our discards ALWAYS score against us. I'm mentally preparing myself for it.

I think in the end, he gained a lot more out of us than we out of him. We got about one and a half season's worth of reasonable football out of a four year stay from him, which is really disappointing given his reported salary and the frequency with which he appeared to have fallen out with previous managers and teammates does suggest he has an attitude problem. Granted, he seems to have been through quite a lot in recent years, however I'd say that a lot of professional athletes have had their fair share of difficult times, he just seems to really have had a lot of trouble dealing with it.

Always nice to see an ex-Spurs player do well (as long as it's not against us) and we were all singing his name when he returned to goalscoring form under Tim Sherwood, but I suspect he will be boo'd heavily if he features against us as he built up quite a bad reputation by the time he left.

Our manager told him 'I can't count on you anymore'.
Says so much....
Rather than prove him wrong you proved him right.

Let Dier put an early marker on him.
Let Vorm come out for a corner, miss the ball and punch him square in the face.
Let Poch trip the people carrying the stretcher so they drop him.

that's a lot of hate... you ever thought of having counselling?

He's said in The Times today that he'd celebrate IF he scores against us the weekend coz he no longer plays for us & it's what he's paid to do. I thought good on you I like that. Hope to fuck you don't get the chance to but nice attitude.

He's gonna be hyped for the game. I feel a goal, a red card, or both is quite likely!

Never too late to develop integrity, ay.

Don't think there's any spurs fan that would expect him not to tbh. Don't feel any connection to him at all after his stint here...which is sad really.

Don't actually have a bitter taste in my mouth either. Just don't feel anything for the guy.

Yeah I don't like the trend of players not celebrating when they score just because they played for the club they are scoring against. If it was one of our players I would want them to be celebrating, because they play for us now.

I'm not surprised
I think he has every right to. Non-celebrations "out of respect" piss me off tbh. It's more disrespectful to your current employer and fans than it is respectful to your former, bar extreme circumstances where club legends come back like Lampard v Chelsea.

“If I score against Tottenham, trust me, I am going to celebrate because I am on the pitch to score,” Adebayor said. “If I was going to score and not celebrate, trust me, I will tell the manager I would rather not play. What is the point of being on the pitch and scoring goals and not celebrating?

“When you score, you can look for a few seconds at it as the best thing that ever happened. For me, apart from having my baby girl, the best thing is when I score my next goal.

Wasn't there a player in the premier league who refused to celebrate because he nearly signed for the team in question? I seem to remember it being spoken of as the lowest point of that particular trend but I can't recall who it was, maybe an apocryphal tale..

No idea but it wouldn't surprise me. People (footballers especially) are weird.

I think it was Wes Hoolahan of Norwich who was wanted by his old boss Paul Lambert at Villa!

The thing is, there are celebrations and then there's this :

:D.

Which "celebration" are we likely to get?

He's nailed on to score against us. He always got goals against us for the Scum. Can remember him getting a couple in the hammering against Real. And now he has more motivation than ever.

I hate the bloke but I'll be checking the goalscorer markets for him for Sunday. Bastard!

So Adebayor's conduct was because Levy messed him around?

The compassionate leave allowance was through ulterior motives?

His late return from ACN was because Levy cancelled the flight?

Levy put him up to the spat with Kane?

Yep, all down to Levy.

*sigh*
