Thats what you get with him always something

No he can't be bothered because there is always something to be sorted, contract or whatever. We should never have bought him in the first place but this is Spurs so here we go again.

Malaria is pretty persistent (I haven't had it, my father in law did though).

A bit silly considering how effective retrovials are these days and at £1/day, it's not like funds are an issue

Antivirals have no effect on malaria which is caused by a parasitic protozoa. As protozoan diseases go it's one of the less nasty ones compared to African sleeping sickness, leishmaniasis, Chagas disease or naegleria (you probably don't want to Google that last one if you are prone to nightmares ). With treatment he'll be fine in a month.

A disease normally transmitted by the bite of a female Anopheles mosquito.

We should've played him in nets.

This is just typical, FFS

Didn't Drogba suffer with malaria and it's after effects for a whole season?

Something is a bit off for me. I don't ususally hold with conspiracy-theories more than their anecdotal value, but this just is plain weird. Spurs official info-channels couldn't be bothered with updating on loads of injured/missing players last season, (lamela wasn't mentioned at all for months), now they feel the need to broadcast, at 10 pm on a Sunday, that 1 player will be missing the tour?

Didn't the club sack Harry at something like 3 am?

Unless it's a virulent strain, in which case anything up to brain damage &/ or death could occur

Yeah no doubt this useless lazy prick went & got this potentially life threatening illness on purpose because he's lazy

Adebayor probably does have a virulent strain. Presumably he caught it in Cote D'Ivoire where 85% of malaria is P. Falciparum (the nasty one) and Cote D'Ivoire has one of the highest death rates in the world from malaria. The good news however, is that unlike a lot of malaria from SE Asia it's unlikely to be drug resistant and they sound like they've caught it early. He probably only caught it in the first place because he skipped taking his prophylactic antimalarials that the Spurs doctors would have insisted on so frankly my sympathy is pretty damn low.

It's all relative however. With treatment Adebayor will only suffer the equivalent of a bad bout of the flu. Compared with African Trypanosomiasis which untreated kills you 100% of the time (and the drug that may cure you melts plastic and kills you 5% of the time on its own) or naegleria, the brain eating amoeba that kills 97% of its victims even with best treatment (and leaves the rest brain damaged), malaria isn't so bad.

If he didn't go to the US and there was no explanation there would be rumours galore about him leaving, etc, given we're in the middle of transfer season.

I know a bloke that did one of the trials when you get paid to get malaria. He was ill for months. Fingers crossed Ade recovers quickly as we will need him to have at least a few weeks of pre season.

Zokora was out for ages when he got malaria. Even when he came back he was obviously affected by it for some time.

Yup. Even when you feel OK, it can be an energy-zapper.

It's a wait and see job I guess, but hopefully it will encourage us to go out and buy someone of that ilk.

Well that's good to know.
