Arsenal goalscorer Leandro Trossard, speaking to TNT Sports: "It looked like a penalty to me, it looked like clear contact. We're not pleased but when you are 2-1 down at half-time you will take point at the end.

Arsenal get a point for a draw in a cup knock out?!... Well that's new to me 😂.

What was Tuchel on about? For penalty shout for them?
Not sure - but there was a penalty shout early in the 2nd half on a goal kick - ball was seemingly played - defender then picked the ball up to set it down and re-started again - Bayern players ran at the official but nothing called.

I genuinely believe that was not a pen for Saka. The ref got it spot on. However had that happened in the premier League that pen would be given. Why are the officials not as strong in prem?
Because everything about how the PGMOL operates is about self preservation. They’re a bunch of politicians who would rather hide behind protocols and directives from elsewhere than stand by their own convictions.

The only one who doesn’t follow that line in England is Michael Oliver and the other refs are terrified of him.

It's one of those where the spirit of the laws say keep playing. Especially since Bayern wasn't pressing. Basically football "doesn't expect" an almost free goal to be awarded there.

(And the ref apparently whistled just as it was kicked which may have created confusion)

Watching Arsenal after white's theatrics at the weekend and again tonight I fear we may need to get better at cheating to catch up to them. They're clearly coached to play for penalties against stubborn defences. They also dive with enormous theatre. This obviously comes from Arteta who will do anything to win.

Like it or not, cheating is part of the game and Arteta is very good at coaching it. We need to get better at playing dirty.

I don't know if I want us to because I value fair play and integrity, but small margins are difference makers and they clearly play for every margin they can get...

City showing that you don't always need to walk it in the net. Still want to see Son and Maddison taking more long range shots for us.

I'll just be happy for Bayen to go into the second leg with less than a 2 goal deficit. Bayern, in dog shit form in a dog shit season, going to a red hot top of the league Arsenal could have easily been a 2 or 3-0.

Arsenal don't have near the same aura about them in Europe.
I was about to say.

When Pep first came, City did exactly that and had critics saying they try to walk it in.

They still kind of did for a couple of years but after a while they started switching it up.

I do wonder if we do that cause Ange doesn't want players taking potshots until we have got our attacking flow right first.

If you are trying to coach good habits into how they should attack but then tell them to start taking more shots from distance you may not get the attacking results you want.
