England are currently nowhere near what is needed for 5th champions league spot, but early days. Just sort by 2023-24 column.
I'm pretty sure it's based on the last 3/4 years of competition and in the 'Total' column we're 13,000 points ahead, so we're on track for 5 teams baring an absolute disaster by every English side this season.

Where would they go though? Six months ago they seemed to be finally on the right path, won their first trophy in six years and were seriously talked about as "back". When you look at the shoddy stadium, the patchwork squad and the chaotic ownership situation, the only reason anyone'd go to United is because they are Manchester United.

I think they just have to take these lumps.
Very true, I was trying to think of anyone available right now and it is slim pickings for managers who aren’t currently in a job.

I think it's only this season that counts

There's no way, England is going to be in the top2 country spots for the 5th place to get into CL

As things stand,

France (PSG & Lens) and Spain (Barca, RM,AM,Sevilla,Sociedad) in the top2 spot.
England struggling.

England can still make up coefficient points in Europa and Europa Conference. A long run in those competitions will rack up points.

I am pretty sure it is based strictly on the coefficients for this year alone.

Carpethead seems to be running Saka into the ground, and is risking losing him for a long stretch.
Always thinks he knows best though, like the tit that he is.

No, its not how its works.

Win - 3pts
Draw - 1 pts
Loss - 0

  1. Calculate each teams points for every CL game they play, till which ever round they may exit
  2. Allocate their points to their respective country
  3. Divide the points for each country by the respective no of clubs. Example - Dutch has 3 clubs in CL, so divided by 3. Serbia has just 1 ,so divided by 1. England has 4 clubs so divided by 4
  4. Now rank the top2 country and they get a CL spot each

Its all of Europe - not just CL - so Europa and Europa Conference

I would not get worked up over the coefficients after GW2 of the group stage.

Its a long process, and England should also do well in Europa, and Europa Conference.

If we are fortunate to make it into CL next season - I hope that Levy understands how important quality depth is for teams in that competition.

Problem for us is: if ManU and the goon both spaff their groups, it’s unlikely 5th in the PL will get the extra CL spot
A lion doesn't concern himself with the problems of sheep.

We're winning the league, so 5th doesn't matter to us.
