I've always enjoyed the relegation battle as there is so much more at stake.

I think Norwich are almost certain to go down. They sold their best player, Buendia, and while there is good potential with their purchases I think it's too much for them to function well enough as a team to stay up.

Brentford seem to play good football and Toney looks like he has some goals in him.

Watford will be reliant on Sarr. I think they'll struggle but it could go either way.

From the non-promoted sides it's hard to predict. Newcastle, Brighton, Wolves, Saints, Burnley, Leeds, Palace and even Arsenal are a few injuries away from being dragged in.

At this early stage I predict Norwich, Palace and Watford to go down but Watford are because I am not sure who else will get dragged down.
I think my Norwich prediction is almost certainly right.

Watford have had an OK start but could easily fall.

Palace are looking decent though.

Hoping Newcastle go down to set them back a few extra years.

I doubt Newcastle will go down tbh.

They could easily bring in 3 or 4 decent players in January and you'd think that would be enough to keep them in the league.

They can pay big wages and put in relegation release clauses, so they really shouldn't be anywhere near the bottom 3 by May.

They could do with a new manager though.

No posts in here since October in here is a bit strange, I guess it is now covered in the main PL thread. Anyway, I was thinking about it this morning and wondered what people now think?

Norwich and Watford are the most likely. Everton have played the same amount of games as Burnley and are 4 points ahead but Everton seemingly have the worse run in and Dyche is a better manager than Lampard.

Leeds, Brentford & Newcastle seem safe and even though Brighton are dropping like a stone through the league table they won't get dragged into it.

I think it could be the most exciting relegation battle for years.....unless you're in it of course!

Leeds and Brentford aren’t safe yet. The game between Burnley and Everton next week is huge. If Burnley lose that then I can’t see them getting out of it. If they win then it could still be close between 4 or 5 teams.

I think we can cut the battle off at Newcastle now, I have no faith in any of the current bottom three going above 33 points.

I think you can cut the battle off at Leeds. I can’t see any of the teams below the winning 6 games- whilst Leeds look better already under Jesse marsch.
I think it will be Norwich Burnley and Everton.

I think Everton might stay above the other three but yeah I agree really.

You're asking Burnley to get 9 points from 10 games just to reach 30, when they're getting 0.75 PPG over the season so far. Watford have 0.73 PPG and just 8 games left, and Norwich are even worse with only 0.6 PPG.

It's a cliche that relegation battlers raise their game towards the end but it actually happens quite rarely in reality.

I think Norwich, Watford and Burnley will go down.

But teams often look dead and buried before surviving. The thing with the relegation battle is a couple of wins makes a huge difference.

Everton's next 2 games are away to West Ham then away to Burnley. Lose both of those and Burnley are 1 point behind on equal games.

Burnley have some very winnable games coming up.

For me, in relegation battles the teams that escape are the ones that can score.
right now only one team looks like doing that-Watford. With Sarr Dennis and king they can hit teams on the break. Everton by rights should be scoring but no one looks like they give a shit anymore. They just look like they’ve accepted they are probably leaving in the summer (eg richarlison and Calvert Lewin)
The only game I can see Burnley wining is the Everton one.

Burnley's next 6 games:

Home to Everton
Away to Norwich
Away to West Ham
Home to Southampton
Home to Wolves
Away to Watford

I see them getting more than 1 win out of that.

2 wins is all I’d suggest there Everton and Norwich
