anyone know if we're still likely to have a home friendly before the start of the season as usual, given the dates of the Audi cup?

If we do it will be the weekend of the 25/26 July, as the MLS All Stars game and the Audi Cup means we'll surely not squeeze a game into the weekend immediately before the season starts.

We must have more friendlies between the start of pre-season training and the trip to the states on the 29th.

Harry Kane :
'I had a week away before the Under-21 tournament with England, hopefully we’ll be able to do well in our remaining matches and then I’ll have a couple of weeks away to rest afterwards. Then I’ll be straight back into pre-season.'

Looks like Kane will miss the first week or two of pre-season - but better than I feared !

Yup, agreed, but none announced by Spurs or our opponents that I've found.

Additionally there will be more Spurs X1 matches, but again no news as yet.

Yedlin is definitely on 23-man US Gold Cup squad - listed as a MFer.

Well that's him out of most of pre-season if the US goes all the way to the final , it lasts from from 7–26 July. I guess he'll make the MLS Allstars match presumably playing for Spurs but he might have been playing so much alongside MLS guys I can se the logic of him playing for the opposition !

Finally......another pre-season match. For a Spurs X1 v P'boro.

Still expecting a couple more first team friendlies to be arranged over the last 2 or 3 weeks of July though (assuming pre-season starts about July 4)

Isn't Spurs XI mostly youth players?

Usually yes, but at this point in time I'm so starved of anything to make Saturdays worthwhile that I may actually go.

Sometimes matches are originally booked as a Spurs X! but then the coach recognises he's not got enough pre-season matches and the Spurs X1 are the full first team.

But some Spurs X1 matches are a mix of Spurs u21's and fringe first team, whilst others can be just Spurs u21's/Academy players

The past few seasons there has been a friendly at the Lane on the last weekend before the start of the season - Charity Shield weekend. That this year would need to be the 1st August as the season starts on 8th Aug.
Are we safe to assume that with the MLS game on 30th and Real Madrid on 4th it isnt likely to happen this year?
Normally a good one to get the whole family up to and start the season in the sunshine

There will only be 1, I think. We'll probably go to the states at least 4 days early to get acclimated with the altitude in Denver. Really only leaves around 3 weeks for training before the trip. We'll probably want 1-2 weeks of training before a friendly. I'd say possible friendly around July 18th.

We have to leave for the states on the 25th, IMO. If the game was anywhere else in the states, we could leave the 28th and have another game possibly. But this isnt just anywhere. Denver is no joke. Have to acclimate. And if there is anyone on the team with a sickle cell trait, they better not play(read this).

Hadn't thought about the acclimatisation at all - even though I passed through Denver a few years ago - so that will limit extra matches a bit.

Haven't seen many Spurs X1 matches either - and whilst the core team for that might be u21's I'm sure a few fringe first team squad players will be involved in a few of them.
