Securing Champions League football next season is not Tottenham’s end goal, Ange Postecoglou declared after his side’s humbling 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

Spurs headed to Craven Cottage presented with an opportunity to leapfrog fourth-placed Aston Villa but it was the hosts’ who dented their European pretensions.

Yeah, fine... I love his sentiments and purity when it comes to his love for football. But eventually some reality about the Premier League is going to have to kick in. A-League/J-League/SPL is one thing. He's going to have to get a bit more savvy with this league if he wants to fulfill this philosophy of "only aiming to win". Champions League qualification is not a trophy, but it is bread and butter if you want to be competitive with the level of domination we have now.
