Wonder if this was something longer-term he's been playing with that they've decided to get sorted now so that he's ready for a full pre-season? We'd have heard a rumour if he'd suffered an injury in training as there'd have been a good few days between it happening and him having scans confirm something needed surgery.

We know nothing yet.

He could have dropped a bottle of after shave on his foot and broken his metatarsal.

Which is a true story of how an Argentinian(?) goalkeeper missed the world cup a couple of days before he was due to fly out.

Edit: it was Canizares of Spain, and he severed a tendon in his foot by dropping a bottle of after shave on it.

We’re fucked without him, the only player who has consistently played at high level to anges vision

ben Davies stepping in completely changes how we need to play. Royal would probably be a better option

Hes been off form for a couple of weeks, and that is pretty unfair on Vicario, Porro, and VDV. And arguably Sarr.

Yeh remember that.

Just seems a bit out of nowhere though. You don't have surgery that quickly unless it's an emergency (which it clearly isn't). So if it was a training injury earlier in the week they've kept it well under wraps as there hasn't been a tinkle that he's done anything. Was he not playing through injury a couple or three months back? Seem to remember there was talk he was being managed through something or other.

He's been sub standard recently though....of course, he's been great overall.

Must of been affecting his perfornances.

Honestly think a fresh Davies, with all his experience, will see us pretty stable at the back.

But we absolutely need Porro back

It could have been an issue he was carrying for a while like Richy and it finally got to a place that it needed to be dealt with. Would explain why his performances have been a little hit and miss if late.

Really tho who knows, more info will hopefully come out in the next few weeks.

I love the guy

but he’s been underperforming for a little while now.
might be a blessing in disguise for the short term

In recent games he’s been guilty of not following his runners. Maybe related to the injury and if so it’s good to try and sort it now.

Agreed, and it also its the correct call for the team now.

We need our strongest availible eleven out there.

Bad news for Udogie. But hopefully good news longterm for Spurs.

Whatever this is, get it cleaned up now, and be ready to go next season.

Poor guy, would've been his first senior tournament with Italy. And never mind that, any confidence I had for the run-in has completely evaporated. I wonder if it was something he picked up in training or some niggle that he's been coping with that they decided to operate on. He did say it was an injury which suggests the former.
