Just Messi doing Messi things…
Making his debut off the bench to score a 94th minute winner ending a 10-game winless streak. They couldn’t have scripted it better.
Didn't realize that this thread existed. I've been to a few games in Charlotte and there is quite a bit of support. I've always been a bit of an anti-MLS guy but have to admit the quality of play exceeds what was expected. It's come a long way and it's nowhere near EPL but the players play hard, tactics are good and haven't seen any kick and run. Pretty good build up play and i suspect but don't know that some of the better players here could play for some of the bottom teams of the EPL.Can’t actually find a dedicated thread for MLS.New season just started. I see Charlotte FC a new franchise set an attendance record of 74k. Pretty impressive considering Charlotte isn’t the biggest of cities.Maybe some of our US friends could give a heads up how the games growing over there. Seems to gathering in popularity?
Over the last few years MLS has started to sign young South Americans who could play in 2nd tier European leagues (Portugal, Netherlands, 2nd division in Spain...) due to the attraction of an American visa. This summer we've seen the return of the likes of Messi and Co but there has been a shift away from it.Didn't realize that this thread existed. They were also severely handicapped by having Phil Neville as manager tbf.So much hype for Messi's move and he has more than lived up to it.
Inter Miami were a very bad squad. Last in standings with about 12 games remaining. Messi joined during pause in the season where they are currently competing in what's called the Leagues Cup, which is cup competition between all the MLS and Mexican League sides. They have won all six of the matches he has played and have now qualified for the final. Through six games he has 9 goals and 1 assist. They have also added Busquets and Jordy Alba. It will be interesting to see if they will make a push for the MLS playoffs once the Leagues Cup is over.
Anything to stop the time wasting would be welcome. This season seems to have been the worst yet, at least at home games.MLS to Implement New Competition Initiatives This Weekend | MLSSoccer.com
