He's a great threat with his pace, keeps defences honest, and can provide for others.

Even one on one though his finishing is pure random chance.

Gravy if it happens but should not be the focus of his game. He should always look to pass if the option is there.

He has his uses but he isn't good enough to start and we have Manor Soloman (not 100% convinced he's actually real) who can be back up left winger. 15m and over 100k a week can go towards a top LW or a striker which means we can put Son as a starting LW. The loan has been a success but we need to focus on a couple of players who can improve the first team and have our existing players as backups
Think he’s definitely improved the team since he came.

The other thing he does is he plays to the team and coaches game plan. He instinctively attacks the far post and that lead to the OG. This is what Ange wants from his wide attackers and Werner and Johnson do this well. Kulu got pulled because he doesn’t do that and he doesn’t cross the ball into those areas.

No idea how reliable these things are but did a search for RB Leipzig wages and these are both saying around £165k a week.

I suspect we were probably paying Perisic that sort of money so it wouldn't necessarily increase our wage bill but that's still big bucks.
Still no more than Ndombele is it? For someone who works so much harder as well. I wouldn't worry about the wages as a fan.

I can easily see why Ange might want to keep him. I can also see why he might not. I'm happy to defer to him either way.

The good news is that it's his decision to make.

If you don't care about the fee either then fair enough. The point I'm making is that it doesn't make any sense to look at the transfer fee in isolation. Transfer fee divided by contract length + annual wages. That's what the player costs per year.

Think he is worth the 12m per year over 4 years total package. But its not a "bargain"

I think he is adding a lot more to the team than goals and assists. I wish he would just take a .5 second breather before finishing, and I think he could easily be at 2 more goals. But at the same time he has played some really good "assist before the assist". Even in the last match his ball to Lo Celso that should have resulted in a goal (yet somehow didn't) comes to mind.

With his experience too, I think it's personally a no-brainer to have as a squad option as our games ramp up next season (hopefully)

Apart from his early assist he was woeful tonight, looked like he was scared stiff of them, no anticipation & to make matters worse seemed on a mission to concede corners (to a team that play for corners anyway) every time he came back!

If I had to call it tonight on the evidence from the last 3 months, I definitely wouldn’t sign him. Doesn’t have the balance to play on the left for us. Takes the ball so square on that he can only go backwards a lot of the time. Didn’t get himself in at the back post for crosses either and a really poor finisher on big wages. Nothing really appeals for a permanent transfer.

People forgetting it was his assist that got that one goal that afforded us the draw tonight. Son had as much of a stinker but of course he gets some leeway from the fans. But the guy on loan who's been here 5 minutes who is yet to settle into his role is knifed in the back with every opportunity.

My opinion hasn’t really changed. I think he’s a perfectly fine squad player but isn’t a starter. He certainly has some good qualities but he also suffers from inconsistency issues and sometimes lacks focus. This isn’t news, it’s who he has always been. Personally I only think you keep him if ether you think Solomon will stay fit and be the starter next season or you sell Solomon and bring in a starting LW alongside Werner. Ie Werner is only kept as a back up.

I'm on the Werner train. I'm less concerned about his finishing, far more interested in his pace. Isn't pace precisely what this club is about nowadays?

Yeah he needs time.... I was on Brennan's neck when he arrived..... saw nothing special....look at him now. Timo will kick on and improve. The fee is nothing really. Nothing to lose in signing him permanently.

Whatever we think about him I think the club has reservations and it is looking unlikely we'll sign him permanently, we're certainly not hearing anything positive coming out about taking up the option.

What makes you think that? Wishful thinking?
