It's always worth remembering that Eddie gave up his Celtic career chances to join Leeds at the age of 16, Frank, Archie's grandad followed. They were from a huge Celtic family and it wasn't a popular choice.
All I'm saying is some of the people advising him aren't adverse to making a big career football move if it's the right choice.

The question is more, why would Leeds agree to that?

If they have a player they rate very highly and believe his value is increasing, why sell for a small amount of money in the short term?

I tend to agree, I was more responding to loan backs being bad for us.

I guess the answer is if the buying club is slightly overpaying at somewhere between todays current value (say £25m) and future potential value (say £80m) - call it £40m+, then they can spend that money, still use the player, and aim to get promoted within FFP.

If they go up the point is moot.

Hypothetically if we paid £40m and sold Rodon for £15m, they could amortise £15m over X years, and have most of £40m to achieve their goals.

We meanwhile could pay say £5m down in year one, and the rest after his loan back over X years.

Doesn't greatly effect us in terms of cash, FFP, or wages - or necessarily hinder other business.

It won't happen, but he's probably the best English talent to push the boat out for.

Saw him in the Plymouth cup match and he oozed class. Pedigree doesn't always out with footballers as mindset is so important but this guy seems to have it all.
His dad Andy was a great player and uncle Eddie was a class apart.
His pedigree is impeccable but Leeds - hopefully not inextricably.

FYI his Dad was lower league journeyman Andy Gray (born 1977), not Keys and Gray "tuck this in for me love" Andy Gray.

This would be amazing, but:
1) would he not somewhat compete with Bergvall?
2) I think lots of teams would be after him
3) Leeds look like they’re going up - if I was Leeds I’d hold onto him, he’ll be worth more after a season in the prem
4) had I mentioned Leeds look like they’re going up - if I was him I’d stay for a season in the prem and get used to in surroundings I was used to

Lovely player though. Him, Bergval and Sarr coming through. Almost ridiculous

A lot of people saying Leeds are going up. They’re only 1 point ahead of 3rd place Ipswich and only the top 2 get automatic promotion.

Don't really see this happening - either they get promoted and they won't sell or they're not and selling their best prospect would be a nightmare (unless we loaned him back or something). Maybe I'm missing something but seems unlikely.

I certainly put it in the unlikely category.

We'll need 2 wing backs and at least 1 forward. Wing backs aren't generally that expensive and Werner could come in for £15m. His salary will be covered by the losses of Dier and Perisic.

If we sell enough of our fringe players we might be able to spend bigger on a player. Maybe that will be used on a wonderkid. Could happen but if Leeds go up they almost certainly won't sell.

Farke was a massive fan of Skipp if memory serves maybe an opportunity to include alongside Rodon in any deal
Extremely unlikely Skipp will leave this summer IMO, especially if we make CL.
He's currently our only club-trained player out of the 4 required even remotely close to regular playing time, so if he leaves we'd have to make do with a squad of 21 registered players.

Wouldn't surprise me if the rumors about KWP returning will pick up speed the closer we get to summer.

Read he can play centre mid or right back. Anyone know if his skillset is suitable to play wing back?

I havent seen much of him.
Do those who know hime, and have a knowledge of our youths think he is that much better than what we have coming through to justify the fee and potentially bock the path/ disillusion our youth??

Given the way we invert our fulbacks I'd have thought someone who was comfortable at both fullback and centre midfield would basically be perfect for the role.

Watched him a lot. Would be amazed if Leeds sell him and he also loves the club. Incredible talent.

Lots of people are saying how much he loves the club, but if he is that good, he will know he has to move to make the most of his career.

Maybe longer term but he's only just turned 18 this week so I doubt he's in any rush to go anywhere. I'd hope he's level headed and won't try and get ahead of himself at such a young age and make a move to a big club that may even limit his development.
