Liverpool with a strong showing again to blow Luton away and set the pace. After 18 games we were 3 points behind Liverpool and 4 behind top. Just 6 games later and we're languishing 13 points behind.

We need another pivot point for our season. The Chelsea implosion was a downward point even though we steadied the ship 3-4 games later. But we could really use an upward one.

The players have to ensure that they don't amble about like the Wolves first half just keeping possession for the sake of it.

Whilst I agree with that I think too many of us are expecting too much now.

It would be great to get top 4 in Ange's first season and he will be aiming for it.

But this season was always going to be a steep learning curve for everyone.

Far too many people were getting carried away before the Chelsea game and even during that really bad period people were expecting us to mount a challenge with players returning.

But the truth is the season always gets tougher the deeper you go.

We just haven't the tools and depth to really adapt to it.

I also imagine Ange is still finding things out about his players.

For example, Maddison is a superb and key player when he is on form/fit but we lack alternatives and players who can offer similar to him.

Or Bissouma is brilliant at evading a press but not so great at picking a key pass if the opposition have tightened up.

A lot of little details that don't stand out at first but come up later in the season.

Klopp, Pep and Arteta fully understand their players and their limitations. We are now finding out

I think we're constantly finding excuses for why the hunger, aggression, and need for constant goal threat wanes so often in our team. I'm not really convinced about the season being tougher the deeper you go. We've had the lightest schedule of any team in the league. We haven't had intensity to take advantage of this.

Liverpool have been superb with a completely rebuilt midfield. Maddison is 'better' than MacAllister and Elliott, but compare his recent endeavour to theirs. They're so aggressive in possession with quick passing and direct crossing to dangerous areas. That whole team is passing and moving quickly through the gears. Our guys are standing still taking 4 touches when one would do.

Ange will find out about players and we'll find out about Ange too. He was lauded as someone who really focuses on the tempo of passing and not playing sideways so much. We've seen some of that, but it's starting to fall off a cliff. He needs more decisive action himself to motivate or replace players (in-game) that are not following his instructions. Protecting the ball while not getting near the opponents goal is supposed to be contrary to his style and philosophy. In that case, don't just watch whole halves go by (just like prior two seasons) where we don't take a single shot.

Hopefully this two weeks is being used to push on for real heavy metal football rather than the pedestrian stuff that's been going on for months now.

He's not a miracle worker and nobody should be expecting miracles. But passive possession footy is wasting our time and he should be changing that.

Klopp has had his system implemented for YEARS meaning players coming in will settle faster. Ange for MONTHS with a completely new, young squad. Maddison has just come back from injury and thanks to our light schedule has barely had any matches to get up to speed.

We have had umpteen absences throughout the squad and haven't had a settled XI really since pre Chelsea.

Some good matches today.

United, City and Arsenal should win but we’ll see as the day unfolds.

Fulham playing like they are prepared to lose by 4 or 5 goals. Fortunately I don't think United have 4-5 goals in them.

Leon Bailey... exactly the sort of player i wish we had. Electric in 1v1 situations and decent end product.
