Davies is injured but VdV and Sess are back, Romero not far behind so I don't see it personally. Phillips never played and we also have Dorrington so I don't think this is linked to an incoming. Not that we won't bring one in of course.
I am not sure Sess is really back, and I don't think that has much impact on CBs (or LBs).

I do think this is more an indication that Phillips wasn't going to play much - no matter who was here, and he needs to play, hence the loan to a Championship side.

I think this also explains why Royal was preferred at CB - if Phillips' current level is still Championship level. (This is not to say that Phillips won't develop - just that he is not ready for PL football right now)

That is very promising. Manager knows the player and wants him, lets hope he gets lots of starts.
I've got a Plymouth supporting mate that's very connected in football. Will be interested to get his thoughts as he plays through the rest of the season.

How will this affect his home-grown status for European competition? I know he will still count as English home grown but will it affect club trained.

So either Dorrington is seen as ahead of him and/or we are signing 2 CB’s in Jan.

Good to loan Phillips out to get him game time.

Bit surprised Blackburn didn't go back in for him, given they're in a similar predicament and Bournemouth have just recalled a CB from them.

Totally agree. Needing Kelly is marginal at the moment.

Next year I feel he’ll actually be totally unnecessary
I sort of agree on this but if we get him for peanuts this window and he has a solid run for us, he’ll sell for a profit in fairly short order. So it’s not exactly a bad signing in that sense (Kelly).

I like the look of Phillips
Old head on young shoulders

Phillips looks good, even when he’s caught out or under pressure he finds a way not to make a mistake.

The positives - Phillips is absolutely class player. two amazing blocks. We have a real player here.

Phillips looks good so far.

Phillips looks class. We have signed a decent premiership player here.

Phillips looks good so far. Very mature performance for a youngster.

Brilliant tackle these new boys look good. Some steal in the team

1-1 Plymouth fans not happy with it, but only praise for Phillips

Dorrington and Phillips are a very good reason not to sign someone like Lloyd Kelly.
Yeah there's a fair case to keep Davies to bridge the gap until one of the youngsters is ready.

Does he play on the right only or is he any good on the left? That would be the only thing since I'm sure Dragusin is best on the right so for balance a left centre back would be ideal.

Be a massive test for him there in a struggling side that leak a lot of goals

sounds like he was the best player on the pitch by a country mile
