He's straight up saying Djed's whole attitude absolutely sucks.
Its clearly not good - but it might not be that bad either.

It could be as simple as a lack of professionalism - things like giving 100% in training, or being late to training/meetings. Without being there - it's hard to know. It is pretty clear though that if Spence wants a career as a professional footballer - he is quickly running out of bridges to burn.

I think he needs to take this next loan seriously - and understand this could be his last chance. It can no longer be that he does not know what is required of him - I am sure that several people have let him know the expectations - and only he can decide to live up to them.

WTF are "soft skills" :cautious:
Makes sense now Djed got sent back as he struggled to give Farke a decent boiled egg...

Soft skills is generally a term used around listening, communicating etc. All the sort of human, personable qualities someone has. I should imagine in this context it’s mostly effort, enthusiasm based.

players who have consistently had their attitude questioned are nigh on impossible to shift, thankfully spence isn't on 200 a week like ndombele so isn't a massive drain on wages but it's still a difficult position for the club. even another loan won't be easy to come by. a free but with a considerable sell on might be our best option.

along with Ndombele, another player whose attitude problems and overall poor mentality were already public knowledge, but who we bought anyway - thank goodness we now have a manager who prioritises the person ahead of the player

These bad buys are certainly coming back to haunt us.
Although Reggie seemed like a good buy at the time, now it’s just good bye.
You can't question Reggie's attitude and personality, so there's no way I'd lump him in with Tanguy and Djed.

It's unfortunate that Reg hasn't worked out but I don't think it's to do with anything other than the fact he's not really good enough. He's not a bad player but isn't great at defending or attacking really.
He's quick and he tries but that's not really enough for what we need.

Do we have anyone coming in to organise our loans, because with this, Reguilon, Doherty and Scarlett it's becoming quite clear we're wasting the time of many of our players.
But they all got loans to decent enough teams, but haven't had the hard work / talent to make a dent.

Yeah Reggie will get snapped up no problem as he appears to be a top character.

On the other hand Djed might have to work on his boiled egg skills before getting a permanent move away ;)

1) I'd infer from those quotes that he had some kind of confrontation with a teammate/teammates and possibly the squad had had a word with the manager.

2) I know well gone are the days of 14m for Kevin Wimmer, but people have veered too far the other way into thinking it acceptable to just utterly write off possibility of transfer fees! He's still young, HG, has athletic skills, lots of years on contract, and won't be on difficult high wages. Really shouldn't be unthinkable to recoup a half decent fee. Letting go on a free seems *very* extreme.

Harsh on Scarlett there, I don't think he can take the blame for his loan not working, that was more bad luck than lack of effort.

There's no way we should let him go on a free but I suspect that it's not going to be easy finding many takers at a decent level.
I reckon he's going to have to drop down another level to prove himself, if he can be arsed, but with his reputation as it now is after being called out by a couple of respected managers, he's not going to be easy to shift apart from another loan.

If he wants a career in the game, he's going to have to take a long hard look at himself after this setback.

when you say drop down another level, what level are we talking about here?

if he can't get himself up to put in the required effort and professionalism for leeds then why would going any lower change that? these are the questions prospective clubs will also be asking themselves and that's why moving him on is going to prove difficult, or so i suspect.

I’d say that Spence has now developed a reputation that will be hard to move on to any team above the Championship - so we are talking limited funds to begin with. Given his risk profile, we will have to get creative- and may need to do a deal with low up front fees and either heavily incentive laden, or with a decent sell on fee.

I am not sure a loan will improve his value for a summer sale. We took a risk - it did not pay off. We move on.

Fair in that case, but it's not like we've generally dumped players on shitty clubs.
