There's no context at all for the quote. He might have been on a wind up which seems to be the sort of bloke he is.

He's the best RB at the club but Foyth can be better, there's a reason why Poch is putting his faith in him.

For some reason everyone seems to forget how bad Aurier really is every time he’s out of the team for a while and we are in need.

I remember at the start of last season, everyone expected him to massively improve after a full pre season and wiser after his first season at the club. He was awful in almost every game we played bar a couple of games.

He’s simply not good enough, look forward to selling him asap, and getting some much needed quality into the club at the RB position.

I dont normally give the benefit of the doubt but potentially he meant what competition as in its not competitive between them but merely team mates working together.

Who the fuck am I kidding but i dont know...

He's right there isn't ant real competition at the moment for the right back position

i think we can see now when Poch said there were unsettled players who he was talking about....Trippier, Alderwereild, Vertonghen, Eriksen, Aurier, Rose, Wanyama, Janssen, Nkoudou.... that's a big chunk of the squad either looking to move, be moved on or dealing with some sort of problem

I fail to see how Foyth can be better.. He’s not a natural RB, he’s a natural CB. In the modern game, the full backs are much more adventurous, no way is Foyth in that mould. I have no idea why Poch is making a lot of decisions he makes recently, and this is another that baffles me. Aurier and Rose are RB’s, Foyth and Sanchez are CB’s. Square pegs, round holes, just doesn’t make sense to me.

This makes Aurier’s statement true, if slightly arrogant (he’s human, we say things off the cuff sometimes), there isn’t a lot of competition at RB. A youngster, and two young CB’s isn’t really competition for a National Team Captain, or at least, shouldn’t be. Pull your finger out Serge, it’s yours for the taking.

Foyth had been doing really well at RB for Argentina until his injury. I don't think it's fair to claim he can't fill that role when he's shown he's capable. He'll only get better IMO.

It’s not like Argentina are stacked for RB’s either is it? There’s no Zanetti.

Look, he’s done ok there in what, a handful of games? Away at City it looked like he was gonna get absolutely ripped apart, but he stuck at it and fair play, had a good game. Doesn’t prove he’s gonna be a good RB.

Away at Bournemouth, he looked competent fair play, then a rash challenge resulted in a sending off. Doesn’t prove he’s gonna be a good RB.

And Argentina, like I said above, they’re not stacked there. None of it proves to me that he will be a good RB. I’ve got faith in the lad at CB, just not at RB. If I’m wrong, only time will tell. It’s probably more of a learning curve for him, which is great, but I believe he will be a CB.

Players do improve you know, you're aware of that right?

Who's to say that Poch doesn't have different plans for our full backs, Ben Davies is more or less plays as an inverted LB with Son playing on the touch line, who's to say that Poch doesn't have similar ideas for Foyth?

Foyth can be whatever he wants to be, he's 21 so he has plenty of years to get better and understand the role, don't think we should be writing him off this early.

I agree with more or less all of that. I also think his future is at CB, but plenty of CB's have been proven to be competent RB's, so all I'm saying is don't write him off just yet.

Only thing I wouldn't agree with is that he looked competent against Bournemouth. He was only on the pitch for 3 minutes and one of those was spent receiving a red card. :ROFLMAO:

Yeah, I haven’t written him off, I said he’ll be a CB, and that I have faith in him. Don’t be that person who twists words, come on.

No, I had no idea that players improve, thanks for worldly insight??

Not really twisting words but okay...

Just gotta wait and see really, I guess if Pep can successfully deploy an AMF with limited pace as a LB then I'm sure Foyth should be okay in that role. ;)
