One of the extra bits of beauty to this deal is that if we do as everyone hopes, and bring in an Ndombele and/or Lo Celso, it means that Clarke can come in and just take his time and learn from Poch etc. It will do him wonders to be able to come through the door, get his head down and play without huge pressure on him as a young English player.
The expectation being on others means he will be relaxed and hopefully able to make an impact when given a chance.

Silly question. If we sign a player but dont have the new seasons shirt released yet. What would they hold up? A scarf? I'm trying to think back of signings we've made where this has been the case....was Wanyama one?

Simply by playing a few games in the Premier League for our club he will be worth more than 14 million. He doesn’t even have to be great doing it. Solanke appeared 21 times for Liverpool over a two year period and was offloaded for 19 million.

Spoke with a Leeds fan mate , himself a very very good former player ... and he says the word up there is he is ours .... also says we are getting a real talent and they are gutted ... needs to hit the weight room was the only criticism...

Sounds good to me

I'm excited for the opportunity for Poch to work with another promising young player. It is a bit concerning that he has struggled to get in the Leeds starting XI (only four career starts) and hasn't received a call up for any England youth groups though.

You could have said the same for David Brooks this time last year and now we all wish we'd paid the £12m or so Bournemouth paid, amid suggestions from some that we should be bidding £30 or 40m.

Not at all. He's 18. Bags of potential! I'm very excited for this transfer!

In fairness he only broke into the team early last season as he’s only 18 at a time when Leeds were flying.

It looked like a massive upwards turn he was on and caught the eye of very many. He was massively hampered by that illness that he got and didn’t play that much after that.

I remember when we were linked in January, Leeds fans and even Ian Harte mocked us saying he was going nowhere and when they got promoted he would sign a long term contract blah, blah, blah.

This kid is the real deal imo and we have been lucky to get him relatively cheaply due to his illness and then Leeds not getting promoted.

Very good points. Still shocked he didn't get invited to anything with England youth this summer. I agree that both are talents that might have slipped through the cracks due to injuries and such. I'm excited to see what Poch can do with him. :)

I’ve not seen the lad play, so can only rely on the obligatory YouTube video. What’s the opinion of those that have seen more? Is he more of a winger or wide forward? In the Son mould?
I did wonder if it was Clarke or Skov Olsen based on the media, Olsen a bit older and playing in not the toughest league, but he seems to really strike a ball well. Has Clarke got that in his locker?

Shouldn't be an issue. I remember when Winks looked like a strong gust of wind could remove him from the stadium, but now he's bossing games on a regular basis. Should be fairly simple for Clarke to put on a bit of bulk.

Not Son. Son is a wonderful player, gifted, fast, efficient, but this kid is flamboyant, visionary, unpredictable. That’s not a disservice to Son, Son is an exceptional, well rounded, hard working player who is a joy to watch, but Clarke is the next great entertainer. Son is an Overmars, a Giggs, a Duff, Clarke is a Waddle, a Ginola, a Best. I’m not saying he’ll reach any of those heights, but he has the ability too and getting him into our great facilities, with our great manager and coaches, from now, learning from some exceptional role models, gives him the best chance possible.

I know I’m talking about a raw, inconsistent, inexperienced teenager as if he’s Bale, but that’s because the first time I saw him live, the way he dropped his shoulder and caressed the ball through impossible angles, turning football into music, told me that that’s exactly what he is.

I hope we'll send a couple of our youngsters there on loan as a part of the deal. There's no better opportunity for them to work within a system that resembles Poch's own than by working under his mentor, and being a part of a promotion push would be fantastic for their development.

I was surprised and disappointed that we didn't send anyone there last season. Surely it'd be a great opportunity for the likes of KWP, Onomah, and Edwards who seem unlikely to be given much of a look in if our planned transfer business comes off.

This is what two window without singing anyone does to people when they realise we might finally be close to signing someone.

Look at the time and date stamps. This was during the first time I saw him. I was watching Clarke single handedly dismantle Derby at just 17, I only watched the game because of Bielsa’s spy scandal. My last comment in particular, by which point he was halfway to being man of the match, should highlight that my current praise has absolutely nothing to do with us being linked, I was raving about him long before. I’m so fucking happy we’re apparently getting him.

I will caveat all of the above by admitting I had similar expectations for Mark Yeates...
