a goal scoring midfielder, he sounds perfect tbh

He's not. He scored 3 goals in 56 games with Porto. Even Modric has a better return than that.

Edit: I meant he's not a goal scoring midfielder. Whether he's perfect or not has yet to be seen....

I think the goal scoring midfielder is a thing of the past. It's a about possession these days, technical ability and basically having a midfield that controls the tempo.

You need someone to score goals. As long as the top 3 do that, we're gravy

I think Siggurdsen will get his fare share, as will Bale. Dembele will contribute too. It's more important to get someone who can bring Bale, Lennon etc into play.

If these reports are true, then I have to admit our transfers this offseason are really baffling. Unless they're planning to play a 4-6-0, we've spent £40m+ on midfielders (our greatest strength last season), and not improved our strikers (our biggest weakness last season).

I just don't see where Sigurdsson or Dembele fit in if we sign Moutinho.... Presumably Parker, Sandro and Moutinho will play the deep 3 with Livermore, Huddlestone and Jenas as backup, and then we have Dembele, Sigurdsson, Lennon, Bale, Dos Santos and VDV (at least so far) competing for 2 spots, with only Adebayor capable of playing the hold up striker.

It seems like we've strengthened one aspect that wasn't in much need of fixing, while we've completely ignored the actual hole in the squad.

VDV has gone, his agent and missus confirmed it hours ago

There could be a hitch in Tottenham's bid to sign Joao Moutinho, with Sky Sports understanding there has been a problem in agreeing personal terms with the Porto midfielder.

Never simple!

Looks like Moutinho and Lloris might be a really late set of deals. Was hopeful they would be completed earlier and we would be able to get another player in during those final moments.

Well no, because we can't just say, "How much do you want?" like the likes of City, Utd and Chelsea

Could be an "I want to be guaranteed to start every game" personal terms but most likely "if you don't give me £x per week I'm not signing (and I'm off for my tea shortly and you might run out of time later so you'd better splash the cash now!)"

Yeah, Moutinho really does have us over a bit of a barrel doesn't he! He knows AVB wants him badly, he knows we need him, so he throws the ball well and truly into our court.

Personally I think we have little option to get it done. AVB's favourite man is there standing in front of him...if Levy doesn't get it sorted it could spell disaster for this budding new relationship.

Unless he is been totally unrealistic with what he wants, i cannot see Levy not getting this deal done.
