Superb news - very encouraging to see that it might actually be possible that we are starting to do things right behind the scenes in terms of recruitment and retention.

I completely agree, apart from the language bit.
If I remember correctly, English is actually his first language due to his parentage.
Yes, but the adjustment from Nigerian English to Estuary English must be as big as from Italian to Spanish, for example!

(and superb work @bomberH !)

One of my old group of mates was from Zimbabwe and he often used to state that he spoke better English than us all!
(He really didn't and I'd often use obscure terms just to confuse him - he was a fucking Liverpool fan, so it wasn't hard).

For once I'm glad that Romano is wrong. His new contract runs until 2030 not 2029. :)

That's a three-year extension...presumably in exchange for a tidy wage increase. He was reportedly on £45k p.w., which is would have been very attractive when we signed him as a 19-year-old, but is a fraction of what one of our rivals would be willing to pay a player of his now proven quality and high ceiling.

Have just seen Saka commit exactly the same foul Udogie got booked for which led to his ban. Saka shoved Tsimikas into Klopp on the touchline, apparently causing a significant injury to Tsimikas. Did Saka get carded, or get an Oooh from Gary Neville? Of course he fucking didn't.

Saka's was much worse as well, in the back of Tsimikas. Udogie's was on the shoulder.

Two games now this guy has been a honest footballer and just powers through intentional fouls on those driving runs when he could have flailed to the ground. Yet, referee reward for that honest play is looking the other way and not giving clear yellow cards. Awful.

Udogie is 21 years old.

Can’t imagine how good he’ll be in 5-6 years if he avoids major injury.

Was an old school libero performance in the first half.

So glad he’s ours.
