You can question many things about the referees, but the red card was correct.

I'm really worried about Bissoumas form. In the beginning of the season he looked like a beast, dominating against every team. He took on opponents and came out with the ball from tight spaces. Now, I feel like he's more lazy and sloppy in possession. It feels like two different players.
I wonder if he is one of the players who only plays well when he wants to and motivated. No real competition for his place with injuries bet he will wise up once Bentacur is back.
Trouble is we dn't need these players who only perform when they want to.

Bissouma takes early vacation...

4 games suspended...And then right away, goes to AFCON.

So, we will probably see him again in Spurs shirt sometime in Feb, depending on how deep Mali go.

Red cards like this can happen to anyone but I do feel like his play in general has been really concerning for the past few months. Gone is the ball carrying and driving force energy he provided early on. He’s always played on the edge with the ball because his best attribute is receiving and playing under pressure, but he’s becoming really nonchalant and sloppy with his touch, ball mastery, and passing, which led to his red. Then the fact he provides zero progressive passing ability and lacks defensive discipline; he’s been poor. By the time he’s available to play another game for us, Bentancur might be back fit. And as far as I’m concerned, he’d be behind both him and Sarr if I’m picking the team. Needs a wake up call, and hopefully this is it, because he provides something none of our other players do at his best. See you in February, hopefully at your best, because we sure could use it.

Spot on. The thing is, even if Sarr can be sloppy in possession from time to time, he offers something different with his box to box running. Its really important for us. Bentancur is a fantastic player and also has the ball carrying and driving force energy you mentioned. I can see a midfield three with Sarr, Bentancur and Maddison.

Could genuinely have Bentancur back by then

Poor once again from him. We can do far better than him. We need a more composed and responsible no6. His sloppiness has increased of late. Ever since Maddison got injured, he has lost it. Infact getting worse & worse every game

I agree mainly, but I don’t think he’s being lazy. He’s afraid to do those things you referenced. A shadow of what he was.

Having lost the ball with poor control the red mist came down which is similar to his reaction in the Luton match. He needs to be more level headed because it's costing us in terms of missed matches. We are fortunate that the character of his teammates have seen the games out successfully on both occasions.
He did start the season very well but has gone off the boil. I'm concerned about his lack of goals and creativity. Let's hope he can address these issues on his return next year

Everyone was watching Romero to avoid the suspension but nobody was watching the Bissouma.

Anyway, he slipped. There said it.

To me it's not lazy as in lack of work rate, but rather lazy as in lack of concentration. Just doesn't seem to do the basics right and makes silly mistakes again and again.

I really feel the 6 should be a beacon in the team, someone the whole squad can trust and rely on with and without the ball and a real focal point. Bentancur is that type of player plus he’s also an elite athlete and progressive passer. Biss has the tools, but he’s really lacked that discipline in all phases for a while now. Needs to fix up.

Since its 2nd red of season, its 4 game suspension till Burnley (FA Cup).
United game on Jan 14, but AFCON starts 13th...so he is gone by then.

I expect Mali to get out by R16 or QF- so should be back for Everton (3rd Feb)or Brighton game (10th Feb)

The rate he's going we might see him in the CL group stages next season.

His lack of positional awareness is a problem. Last time he cost us a goal, tonight he gets a red. His head needs to be on the swivel if he’s going to try these turns on the edge of our box.

Just mentions 2 reds carries an extra 1 game ban. Since its for violent conduct is 3 + 1. Whatever it is AFCON means he's out anyway until Feb. The 4th game suspended is actually irrelevant because he is off anyway.
