From my understanding (and again I'm just passing on some of the knowledge I've gained, I'm no expert), think of it like this:

2-4 weeks: Grade 1 is a strain of the muscle (pulled hamstring) where it's overstretched but doesn't tear.
4-8 weeks: Grade 2 is a partial tear of the muscle.
8-12 weeks plus: Grade 3 is a full tear of the muscle and POTENTIALLY tear off the bone.

The timescale of these grades is approximate depending on the individual, the severity of the injury and there are obviously exceptions. Borderline Grade 3 as O'Keefe put it probably means Micky had more than a partial tear but not a full tear if that makes sense, blurring the lines between the grades.

All we can do as fans is hope Micky recovers really well and fully without rushing back to minimise the chance of it reoccurring.

Should be early January yeah although there is a chance his recovery goes well and he returns a week or 2 earlier if we are really lucky (which we aren't!)

Grade 2 is not typically 3 weeks as this aggregator suggests. A Grade 2 recovery is anything from 4 weeks up to 8 weeks, in Micky's case more likely towards the latter given O'Keefe has said it's borderline 3 which means it was a severe 2.

Grade 3 would be 8-12 weeks or potentially more, depending on the complexity of the tear and surgery requirements.

Spot on, was going to say that aggregator is spreading shit.

Grade 3 or near 3 would likely mean surgery for a start.

The aggregator clearly went on google and just posted recovery times from what they saw there but got it wrong.

There is a PL physio in my family so I have learnt quite a bit about injuries over the past 10 years and received advice for my own hamstring injuries (among others!)

He's a grade 2 until he's a grade 3
