This is a good example of why using clear and concise language isn't just some affectation by social climbers or the pretentious. They need protocols. Use of full names, clear questions and clear answers etc and only one person speaking at once.

While initially I don't agree with PGMOL releasing the audio seemingly caving in from the bullying tactic of Liverpool, I'm glad they did now. Not only has that highlighted the whole issue to be purely a human mistake, it also shows how stressful the environment the refs are in handling all these in such a short time under the watchful eyes of millions in real time. They are after all just humans doing their jobs and perhaps they should be appreciated and being showed more support, instead of being accused as undermining sporting integrity by the fucking shit of a shameless club.

Liverpool have embarrassed the PGMOL, the refs, and many others in the running of the VAR system. All because of one fucking statement from them behaving like a spoilt brat. They should be made to apologise now for their inferred allegations. I have no doubts the refs must have suffered abuses as well from their fans in both online and offline.

Yes. Humans will always be imperfect. Minimising this reality was part of the desire to introduce technology but the system itself still seems much work - especially in terms of communication etc.

The snide character assassination stuff is just pathetic.

There have been many dodgy calls since the introduction of VAR due to interpretation or the VAR making a mistake but this is probably the only time in all the matches played, that this type of human error has happened. The VAR made the correct call that the goal was not offside. It was just in the conveying of the call that got messed up. That’s one call in amongst all the other calls in 380 matches a season. This is being blown way out of proportion because its Liverpool.

Liverpool have come out of this looking fucking awful. Whoever had the idea to put out that statement has really dropped a bollock.
As a club though, for as long as I remember they’ve always had absolutely zero self awareness.
They think they’re front and center of world football so this, from them, really isn’t surprising.

Only thing I’m questioning is why didn’t we see any lines drawn on the var image, if it was just a communications fuck up?

Wasn’t the part of the audio when they were asking if they were happy with the image once play had restarted? Then they didn’t share it after the fuck up. They don’t show the workings out anymore, just the final image.

That’s true - normally watching on tv you see the freeze frame of the lines drawn on screen with an ‘offside’ or ‘onside’ beneath it.

I know because I always find it funny how it flashes on screen then you get the commentator slowly saying ‘I think this might be offside’ about 10 seconds after we all already know it’s offside from the freeze frame.

Wonder why we didn’t see it this time. Was it because it was such an obvious onside they didn’t feel they needed to, or maybe because they came to the decision so quickly?

Well I for one am glad that we finally have some closure.
I’m confident that will be the absolute last we hear on the matter from all Liverpool fans.
They’re a very gracious and forgiving bunch that will definitely not hold a grudge.

*If anyone wants me I’ll be in the ‘What Our Opponents are saying’ thread waiting for @Jgplk1’s latest episode.

Replay operative: Delay delay. Oli [PGMOL Hub Ops] saying to delay. Oli's saying to delay.

VAR: Pardon.

Replay operator: Oli's calling in to say delay the game. The decision is onside

VAR: Can't do anything

Replay operator: Oli's saying to delay. Oli's saying to delay

VAR: Oli?

Fourth official: Yeah

"That Oli lad knew, but they shut 'im up! Lad's an 'eeero! God Bless you, Oli, for trying!"

He'll have a statue outside Anfield this time next week, for his heroic efforts to be the one true voice in the PGMOL that will speak out against the anti-Liverpool cabal that run it.

Is there anything we can officially do as a club to patronize Liverpool? Sent them a few truckloads of Kleenex, blankets and Ovaltine to hand out at their next game or something? Surely there's something we can do to help?

Well, I for one didn’t think it was possible… but the audio actually makes it funnier.

The one guy who would’ve been held to account in the old days is getting away with no criticism here at all - the linesman who wrongly flagged offside.

And rightly so, since what he is asked to do is literally impossible. Unless you can look at two different things at once criticising someone for being a few inches out really isn’t called for

A couple of things I take from that.
1) How the fuck do any of them know who’s talking? Why have so many people with a vocal input there? Too many cooks spoil the broth, as they say.
2) It’s LiVARpool, so it’s funny.

Absolutely nailed one of their lot tonight!
His lad had a birthday party on Saturday mid game, I caught him before training started and asked him if he’d got over Saturday yet and he started ranting and raving.
My response “I was talking about the kids party mate” and just turned on my heels, proper back of the net moment!
