Losing Lloris and Kane in the same window will both be hugely detrimental to the leadership but also gives us a chance of a fresh start. We simply have to give Ange time.

It’s anyone’s guess who will be captain. Personally I like both Bentancur and Bissouma as good potential captains.

I would also have Sonny as vice captain no matter who is captain.

Hojbjerg probably gone too. But someone else will have to step up.

Captain? He needs to show big personality to fill the losses. Who could fill that position?
Son could do the Benzema thing of emerging from the shadow. Really has to be the choice. Then, as much as people don’t like it, Dier has the attributes of a captain I want to see. After that you’re looking at players that have just got here like Bissouma or Bentancur’s who’s been out for half a year.

True but one could argue our club leadership hasn’t proven the strongest in adversity, and often seems to have compounded the problems over the last few years so giving others the chance to step up could go well.

The idea that Levy has held out and played a blinder on the fee is nonsensical. With one year in his contract he just doesn’t have the leverage. I’m sure it’s just been played out in the media to save face but surely this has been almost certain since June.

You can’t seriously believe they’ve all agreed this deal and then just left it for a month for no reason

If it was almost certain since June it would have been done earlier

Not looking forward to Bayern gloating at successfully bullying us into caving. Yes, we may have got an acceptable amount, whatever that means. But they will still be unbearably smug and telling us how big they are and how small we are.

That’s not what I said.

Of course there’s been some negotiation but with little leverage you can’t move the goalposts far.

And PEH, he’s a leader in the dressing room. It may be a reason why they might keep Dier on this season. Time for others to step up.

It’s still a big hit to lose the captains of two international teams though. Lot of experience that will need new players to step up, as you say. Hopefully Richy/Bissouma/someone surprising can do that.

If we got an acceptable offer and have decided to go for it... then it's fair enough... I absolutely hate the way Bayern and the media have behaved. And I wish Harry would sign a new contract with us instead... But it looks like he won't.

As much as I hate Bayern... I can see the logical aspects of accepting an offer that matches our requirements. But we simply had to push them all the way. I'm glad we did...

If Kane is off... then I see a couple of good things about it.

1) It will take a bit of pressure of Ange's first season with us. Yes, he's going to miss a world class striker and a club legend... but it also lowers the expectations... "Tottenham without Kane... blah, blah, blah... you know the drill !" ... a fresh start.

2) It might release a bit of freedom in the squad. With more people chipping in and taking responsibility... we've very often had periods where many players were hiding behind Kane.

3) We don't have to listen to the Kane media-crap every year. About the club not being good enough for him and he deserves more etc.... I do still believe that Kane would/could win something under Ange... but if Kane doesn't believe it. Then move on. (If the Bayern-offer matches our wishes).

4) If we do strengthen, freshen things up and mould the team after Ange's ideas, we could use this Kane-situation as a catalyst for something completely new and dynamic on and off the pitch. We simply have to do it that way or else we're f******.

But as Trix said earlier. Any team/club would miss a world class striker and personality like Kane.

With Kane and Lloris leaving and maybe also Hojbjerg and Perisic we surely must have the youngest squad in the league?

Sorry I have to disagree here. I’m not a Levy fan in any way shape or form, however I think he has done the right thing here. We can’t be seen to be bullied by anyone, we set a target amount, if they meet it then they can have him.
