I'm intrigued to see what he'll do in the transfer market. It seems like to date he's been unearthing gems from lesser leagues, but whilst that might work to some extent with us, we definitely need some bigger names too.

With most of the other managerial targets, you could sort of guess the players they might go for. With Ange, other than 1 or 2 Celtic players (risky), I don't know who he might want.

Me too. I’m intrigued about his overall knowledge of players from all leagues.

Am right behind the man, no point looking back or thinking about what could of been with JN or Slot. He shows he is a leader, passionate, articulate and wont suffer fools.
Put that together with the attacking football he plays, i am looking forward to next season :)

‘To say I’m underwhelmed is an understatement.
My heart is saying that I hope he works out and turns out to be great at what he does but my head is saying no chance. It’s a disgrace that this is the best our board can come up with after 3 months.’

‘Good luck Ange, you are going to need it.’

‘Do you really think he will be backed? Not a chance. All done on the cheap again’

‘A completely unnecessary risk of an appointment. Good luck Ange, you'll need it.’

‘Utter shambles of an appointment but at least we can stop discussing what's and ifs...
I give home 6 months in the sacking sweepstake’

All posts from Celtic fans. I think you’d all agree that we could have filtered those in at any point over the last few pages and none of us would have been any the wiser!

The striking thing about the first few pages of the Celtic forum is how underwhelmed they all were at his appointment. Now they’re desperate for him to stay.
I know this has been mentioned a lot and there are obvious similarities it’s just for me you can’t compare Celtic and us in any way, shape or form. Within their league they are like a PSG or City. I honestly feel we should be looking more towards the likes of Yokohama then Celtic as a comparison.

I think any apathy I have with this appointment is more about the state of the club and the people that run it than Ange. Whilst there does feel like a logical progression here compared to the Nuno caper of 21, Ange's appointment is still off the back of failed talks and negotiations with other coaches. What happened with Nagelsmann and the shit PR move was embarassing, embarassment compounded by our failure to land Slot, a coach that very much wanted to come until we got cold feet.

Ange isn't coming because we felt he was the best man for the job and have waited 3 months to secure his signature. It's because we've once again shown ourselves up and he's the best candidate left that we haven't fucked off.

I have concerns about his pedigree and how his style will translate to the Premier league, it's only natural give how poor the Scottish league is. I am however hopeful given how he proved his critics wrong when he got the Celtic job.

So I'm cautious. I'm not going to be leading a revolt amongst the fanbase from the first day like some were with Jose and I'm more optimistic than I was with Nuno who I felt "meh" about. As with the start of his Celtic tenure, he's walking into a shit storm at a club that has gone backwards this year. I rate myself as one of the more patient fans and I hope most will at least give him 18-24 months before chanting for his head.

We should all know by now it's the hairless one that needs to role anyway.

It might be a touch of prejudice against our friends Down Under, what with them traditionally being a minnow in the football world, but I'm not getting elite manager vibes here.

In an Ashes summer too, when they're surely going to smash us.

I hope I'm wrong on both counts.

Brilliant article

Lovely read, thanks for sharing. Whatever it translates into at Spurs, very much looking forward to seeing more of him at the club, barring another last-minute shock.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s sacked if we don’t get champions league. That will be the remit from levy as with all our managers. And before anyone says the word “project”, there really isn’t going to be one
Levy should be happy someone wants to manage us full stop at this rate

I say we all head off to Hotspur Way in the morning and all stand outside Levy's window and sing:

Tie Postecoglou down, Dan,
Tie Postecoglou down

Never said that. I was just making an observation that football expertise is no guaranteed insurance policy.
And I never said having a DoF was a guarantee of success 😉. But just because Paratici isn’t great at picking a manager (which everyone knew before we hired him) doesn’t mean having a DoF involved isn’t still an essential part of a manager hunt. After all a DoF is like any other role, there are good ones and bad ones.

If we ever hope to be as well run a club as Brighton, let alone BVB or even the elite teams, having a football expert (ie DoF) is an essential role. No team that we wish to emulate would make a decision on the appointment of a manager without one and doing so is incredibly backwards.

Just because Munn knows Ange and beloved he is a talented manager that doesn’t mean he will know how well the players we have will suit his system or if that system will suit this league.

Already you could make a very strong argument that Udogie and Porro are a bad fit for him as I mentioned in a previous post.
