Gallardo, Pochettino and Nagelsmann are literally out of work right now. How we're making such a fucking song and dance about this is absolutely beyond me.
It appears that they all want more control than Daniel coys is prepared surrender unfortunately. We're fucked until he leaves. I honestly couldn't give a care who we get in now as I can't see it making the slightest bit of difference. It's all a pipe dream.

I wonder has Levy gone back to Nagelsmann is the last 48 hours , he surely has to be getting pressure from JL and VL to right this negative spiral now. Nagelsmann and whoever he wants as DOF to get us rebuilt and heading in the right direction. Whatever the cost.
They don't give a shit, as long as the money printer is working.

I don't think that is entirely the case seeing we've employed two managers that are the very opposite to yes men in recent seasons.

However, if the club is looking to go back down the data-led recruitment approach then we need a manager who is willing to work within that structure. Managers who work for teams that have a DOF and data-led approach to recruitment have very little say on specific players that are brought into the club. Therefore the manager just needs to focus on coaching, so won't have much say in other aspects of the club. This is why the manager and DOF have to be aligned in their philosophies - I suspect this is part of the reason we tried recruiting the Feyenoord DOF.
If we are saying that is true, why then won’t we recruit a DoF Nagelsmann wants?

Yeah can understand it all... 2 months back I was extremely confident that we will land on our feet at seasons end and the right person would be appointed...That Daniel Levy and the board have this under control. I genuinely expected it to be wrapped up by now. An announcement by next week Wednesday is what I'd hoped on 2 months back when looking ahead.

Now i don't give a toss.

I just had a read back through the 2012 manager itk thread after redknapp left and it is so similar to this. Then it was Martinez and Moyes people were trying to convince themselves about, now it’s Moyes and Potter.

Nothing has changed. The search was a mess then. It’s a mess now. That’s over a decade ago and it’s the exactly the same. The similarities are uncanny.

Dan Kilpatricks latest article
Ange Postecoglou, the Celtic boss, has emerged as a serious contender after Slot’s decision to remain at De Kuip, while Nagelsmann, Brendan Rodgers and Luis Enrique are all out of work and have been admired by Spurs at one time or other.

Problem here is what if Levy has a different view to every DOF as well. I mean it's not like appointing one of these has been any quicker than appointing a manager now is it.
Having a different view is fine and not unusual for some top execs. The issue comes when this is over multiple areas. In this case manager and DOF, at that point you as the exec have to ask yourself why? Sanity check your thinking and re-evaluate. If that doesn't happen what talent pool are you actually picking from if all the top people in those areas all disagree with you. That again should be pause for thought. It's confusing that this seems to be a real struggle. At least from the outside looking in

Media are now all just making guesses as we all are. But I also won't discount any efforts from the club in sending out feelers in these journalistic reports to test the sentiments of the fans.

The problem is Levy isn’t just the CO he is part owner in his own name. He doesn’t have to really answer to anyone but Joe, and clearly he only cares about the next sunny day. As a business and an investment, money wise, Levy has been a genius, bought the club for a pittance, invested basically none of their own money, and are sitting on a billion pound club.

At this point it could be absolutely anyone.
I am probably only 25/1 and have won the Cypriot league 3 times on football manager

Agree, Postecoglou has been mentioned a lot for a while now so I’m sure there’s some educated guesswork going on.

Maybe that's just how things are - either in reality or in terms of how news is fed to you.

And remember, the appointments then weren't so bad. Yes AVB was not the right man but he satisfied those that hated Redknapp and had potential. Sherwood was a stop gap who actually did very well initially and introduced Kane and helped Eriksen settle. Pochettino was fine, a logical choice. Mourinho and Conte were interesting and ambitious characters. Only Nuno was a poor choice in terms of performance and appeal. But looking back there was a huge dearth of candidates - and I think Paratici perhaps didn't quite grasp the assignment.

I suppose the main thing that has changed is expectations (due to our increased status) and impatience (due the social media churn)

I hear this a lot, but then I see others lauding Gallardo, who's won a lot of cups in Argentina. The lack of Prem experience doesn't really bother me, as it didn't with Slot despite a very limited experience in the game.

Surely, the club needs to unite under a vision, a style of play, a structure, and then bring in someone who can work under that. It doesn't even need to be outstandingly successful, it just needs to set the club back on the right path (an example would be Potter at Brighton, whose good work has paved the way for RDZ – previously of the Ukrainian league – to prosper).
Agree. Not sure why any quality manager would want to come here until we have a coherent plan as a club. We seemed to have one under Poch and we abandoned it as soon as we were close to the top.

There is no front runner for either role now. They have been knocked back by practically the majority for either role. Reasons are plain and obvious. Is there a panic? You know the answer to that one. They thought they had nailed it especially with Slot.

El Jefe will likely end up having to overpay for the 4th or 5th choice to avoid overpaying for one of the "frontrunners"
