I by no means want Potter to be our next manager, but for the life of me I can’t understand some people clamouring for someone like Kompany and dismissing Potter.
Neither are right for us right now but I definitely put Potter above Kompany.

Anyway, Arne Slot’s blue and white army!!!!!
Yeah it really gets a reaction having any positive words to say about Potter. I'm personally wanting Slot but agree Potter would be a great shout also but whenever I mention him I'm met with sarcasm and contempt.

Brighton scored 28 in 20 before Potter left. But they scored 27 of those goals in the 15 matches immediately prior to his departure. An average of 1.8 goals per match.

Since De Zerbi took over they have scored 38 goals in the 20 PL matches. An average of 1.9 goals per match.

De Zerbi has done well but it's a continuation of how Brighton ended last season/started this season rather than a complete turnaround.

I never usually do this, but how on earth does a factual post warrant a dislike @YB123 and @BedfordshireSpud? I'm genuinely curious because disliking a post, the substance of which is statistical, is just a bit weird.

I'm just yanking your chain matey. I'm an old timer who has no time for all these newly invented stats, or imo pointless graphic charts and stuff. I guess I'm just a miserable old sod at the end of the day so just ignore me.
Ah apologies, I read the tone of your initial message poorly. Appreciate you clearing it up all the same though 👍

No nothing about Slot, but would have concerns about the quality of league he operates in, as previous posters have alluded to it's probably the equivalent of the championship apart from a couple of teams.
With that in mind should Kompany not be considered as string a contender as Slot for his short term achievements at Burnley?
Either way I remain apathetic and feel kind of sorry for whoever gets the job, having being filled with false promises, have to deal with trying to convince Kane to stay and then have to deal daily with DL and our board.

Somehow this manager search just is worse than 2021. The fact we trusted a coach who had no badges to manage us in the cup final makes me sick.

Levy didn't sack Mourinho because of the league issue, he sacked him because it would look bad a manager that just won their first trophy in 13 years got sacked immediately or at the end of the season. So he rather us not win a trophy than win one. What happened next was 4 months of chaos

It feels like we are repeating history again

The problem is for the first time, Levy is now seen as someone as to avoid in the footballing world.

Sacking Mourinho has done more harm for this club then good and I don't think its fair since the likes of Chelsea have had their longest managerial reign since the ENIC takeover at 3 seasons(for the guy who won their first PL title) but its clear managers dont trust Levy with their careers

We now have sacked a manager with no replacement, we have a suspended DoF, we have a caretaker who will leave at the end of the season. We have a chairman who took a back seat who is the only person in their hierarchy left LOL to run things

A few years ago Ajax were a force to be reckoned with but these days they’ve lost their best players. They’re a shadow of their former selves. PSV are average and although Feyenoord look like becoming champions when you look at the calibre of players they’ve have may be 1 or 2 who look decent… as an example they play Jahanbakhsh as a wide forward. Whilst at Brighton he scored a stunning 2 goals in 52 games. I’m not playing down Slot’s achievements but the standard in the Dutch league or the quality of players isn’t what it once was. People will say they turned over Shakhtar Donetsk 7-1, they did but look at the state of their squad and circumstances (war), they’re nowhere near as good as they once were.

8 of the 11 who played in that match also played in the 4-1 win away to RB Leipzig and 10 of the 11 played in the 1-1 draw at home to Real Madrid in the CL.

I know they finished 3rd in the CL group but they are still a decent side and a 7-1 win against them by a team like Feyenoord is incredibly impressive.

The quality of the league isnt particularly relevent, more if the skills they need in that league are transferable to the PL.

I have doubts about managers from the netherlands. There isnt much diversity of styles and what works there certainly doesnt necessarily translate to the PL.

However what Slot has done is remarkable, and deserves consideration. Also, Slot has replicated the league form in European competition another massive plus. Obviously, it would be a risk but I would back the club on this one. Though there are question marks.

I have been watching, reading, studying Slot for a couple weeks now. I think he would be my #1 over Naglesmann. I love Naglesmann too, but I’m struggling find anything about Slot that worries me beside the league he’s in.

Thanks for sharing this. This is the kind of statistic that really adds context to a debate and provides more analysis on Potter.

Slot has a massive Dutch Cup match against Ajax on Wednesday if you’d like to tune in and see the experience firsthand. I’m all in.

I watched Feyenoord's match yesterday (I'm sure it was discussed in here) and felt that they didn't play to their best in a tricky derby match.

They still came out with a 3-1 result and a few times they just turn it on with one touch movement and switching the field of play so quickly, which is something that I haven't seen us do in a while. Would be refreshing, esp. if the results can come with it.

Lol , same posters who dislike any comment I make on Potter. I think it's like a tic or something
The poorly executed technique of skim-reading. Poster spots a name they discredit and hits “dislike” without checking the substance or context of what is being said.

Otherwise known as ‘ignorance’.

Have we had ITK that this is a 3 horse race somewhere? I know it’s so changeable and impossible to stay with but I’m wondering how confident the current view is. Are our ITKs agreeing

Well maybe because I never said it was a complete turnaround. and your facts provide a higher average for De Zerbi!

You've basically tried ro discredit De Zerbi and say its down to last season and early this season, when Potter has gone to another club and not corrected glaring weaknesses hes previously had, unlike Howe who had leaky defences but now are defensively solid.

The last time I played the “I never usually do this” game with my wife she woke up with a sticky chest.
