I'm coming round to managers like slot. I think he'll come without the expectation that we operate like Chelsea in the transfer market and could get us playing attacking football.

Could end up a poch-like appointment.

Yeah I'm with you - more of a long term, get the most from what we have type of appointment

Yeah, I'd much rather have a manager like Slot fully bought in and excited to be our manager over Nagelsmann reluctantly coming here if he doesn't get any better offers.

After Jose and Conte we shouldn't go near anyone who thinks they're bigger than the club or needs tons of persuading to join.

You know that these guys can read and talk to other managers etc. they are not being released from some pod where they’ve been hibernating unfettered by modern society into a world where preying levy attacks the newborn and fills him with disinformation ?

Changed my vote to Arne Slot. Seems like a manager fit for our rebuild and that can make this club his home. We'd definitely enjoy the football.

Neither of those were good appointments. Both were clearly washed up, past their best, and their dinosaur anti-football tactics were the proof…
You say Levy couldn't get an elite manager, yet he got two of the biggest names of the modern game. Don't try and move the goalposts because you don't like him.

Not at all. I was responding to the point that Levy has caused us to lose out on decent managers, which isn't true.
So you don't think good managers turned us down during that pathetic search which resulted in Nuno? I think that's pretty naive.
You don't know what's true or false any more than I do.

You probably think Levy hasn't caused us to miss out on transfers in or out as well, with his antics, which actually cost us in the long run. Or four years of naming rights. Or... nah, if you can't see it by now yo never will.

Conte is far from washed up. He wasn't a great fit, and in hindsight a stupid appointment but I have no doubt he'll be back to winning somewhere else.

Enrique’s comments should set alarm bells ringing at the Club, he clearly doesn’t think we’re going to be competitive anytime soon and if he isn’t convinced then we may as well forget JN.

Shambles of a Club at the moment.
Have I missed something? He didn't in any way reference us did he?

I do really think some people maybe forget the context in which we got him. We were absolutely washed with Nuno literally looking like he was about to cry on the touchline every game, and Conte was by far the best available manager at the time.

We were 9th and made it to 4th. Absolutely this season has been a disappointment but *if* we get 4th and end up with Nagllesman or Slot then I really don't think it'll be looked back on as the disaster it's being made out to be. Albeit without great planning from thr club and a lot of luck and things falling into place for them)

(Understand that if is doing quite a lot of heavy lifting at the moment but its still very possible)

Famous last words but we’re not ‘that’ bad, as you say we’ve been somewhat on a decline for years however we’re still 4th and we’ll be challenging CL spots this year. Whereas Everton will get relegated soon enough.

We also have the stadium which will allows us to continue spending and getting players in, being in London also helps a lot. Whereas Everton are in their situation because they can’t spend because ffp. We have a good core of players and add a couple in the summer and get the right manager and possibly DOF in and the situation could look massively different.
Levy soon won’t have Kane and 20 goals a season to paper over the cracks and his monumentally shit footballing decisions.

When you look at Conte's time at Chelsea, it's not that different, really. He hit the ground running (more or less) and fell off a cliff in the second season. We also got our (more or less) instant impact from him, which gave us CL. Had he been with us the whole season, we'd probably have been 10-15 points better off and not that far off City and Liverpool.

One has to remember tho that we had Paratici at that point who Conte knew very well from his time at Juve. I know that supposedly it was Levy who pushed for him, at least according to recent reports, but I do wonder if he still would have come if Paratici wasn't here. I'm sure the the paycheque helped a lot but Conte probably felt more convinced by FP's presence considering the success those two and Moratta had at Juve.
