Can never be trusted. Even when he's good it's just a matter of time until his brain farts.
And obviously can't move his feet if exposed 1v1 on the ground.

Defending mainly aerially in a low block, Romero alongside, he can get away with it.

No one going completely ott above can defend that, judgement, technique, wtf is he trying to do? Stop the shot through his legs?

Nowhere near good enough.

That was genuinely one of the worst performances I can remember from a centre back. He seems to have forgotten the point of defending is generally to stop the opposition shooting at your goal

He's scared shit to get too close as he is slow at adjusting his body position, just remember Brighton's goal at home last year, so he resorts to backing off.

He's fucked either way as he's not a very good defender.

Nothing new really, think its been beyond clear he isn't someone you can rely on for a long time. Playing 3 at the back means we have to carry Davies as well. If Sanchez and Tanganga have to play if Romero is out, that is a shocking CB combination and no one should be surprised Leicester pulled down our pants with that defence and keeper being put out.

We're just waiting for the right opportunity to never materialise to sign a top replacement.

We were told last January we were going to sign a centre back last summer and it never happen. Wouldn’t be surprised if it’s the same this year.

Sick to death of this guy outlasting mangers.

It's not even his fault, he's still here because of our useless owners, not investing in the defence.

He actually was signed pre-Poch... a good squad player to have, but not someone we should be relying on as a key player.
Tbh I am past this squad player line, just want rid, cut ties, gone, bye, he has survived 8 years on the pretense of being a squad player, we will never win anything with players like dier even as a squad option

Shocking and just goes to show how poor his awareness is.

That first image is from Davies' pass isn't it?

If so, I have no idea why he is there because that's Bentacur's space to receive/retrieve ball if it comes loose.

But then I am not surprised really because every time we lost the ball, in def transition someone was not where they should be or not reacting quickly enough.

I genuinely don’t know how it’s possible to play professional football your entire life and still have as poor agility, balance and co-ordination as he does. He must have gone through his whole childhood and teenage years never having done any SAQ training at all, it’s the only explanation. I remember when he skipped England U21 duty to work on it specifically when he first arrived. He should be made to do at least an hour of SAQ training every week, you can’t have a defender with feet this slow man ?‍♂️

He has the easiest role in the back 3 and he cant even do that.
