Mate I’m just completely delighted we’ve got Porro over the line. Massive credit for Levy for doing so. I also think Levy really needed to get this completed and knew if he didn’t he’d be under huge pressure. So in that sense, massive credit also to our brilliant supporters who’ve brought that pressure to bear by making their voices heard. Never really understood why you feel the need to ridicule them and me for wanting to hold Levy to account? But anyway, awesome news about Porro. I couldn’t be more delighted that Levy’s got the job done. And as Trix has said, that support for Conte needs to be consistent and on-going moving forward now.

You get a lot of stick for your ratings but whenever you post you come across as a pretty respectful, reasonable dude.

There's a section of SC posters, who consistently try to shut down a lot of the criticism Levy (often rightly) gets under some faux concern about negativity and the site becoming toxic but the same attack fellow fans calling them bed wetters, moaners, "cock munching doom mongers" and all other types of personal attacks.

But that isn't toxic at all apparently. The hypocrisy is hilarious.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but it appears we have paid either €45m or €47.5m (depending on which report you read), plus given away as much 15% of our Edwards sell on fee. If Porro had a €45m release clause, could we not have paid just the release clause without extra € or giving away Edwards sell on % ??? Seems a bit weird.
Yes we could have paid the release clause, but that meant paying all the monies up front.
We weren’t prepared to do that so in effect have given Sporting arguably more than they wanted by giving 15% of the rights to Edwards away instead, something Levy could have authorised a while ago as an option to those negotiating to stop all this nonsense.

I've been posting about our interest since last April/May, and I've been hearing and posting his name consistently since. It's never been last minute gossip. Whether it gets done is another story though.
Yea you’ve called this one for ages mate. Appreciate it might not get done this Jan but would make it a very good window for once if we can get him on top of Danjuma and Porro.

The problem is now, IF we manage to get the deal over the line, fans will be that relieved that we managed to bring him in that we will forget everything else briefly and see the window as a success. Even IF we manage to bring him in, we are still 2 short of what we needed to do in Jan.

glad you’ve said it. For me it’s still a 5/6 out of 10 window!

hincapie would take it to 8, but it ain’t gonna happen!

If he manages to get that over the line too, then I’ll hold my hands up & accept he’s trying to change.
Same tbh if we get Danjuma, Porro and Hincampe in this Jan it’ll be the first window for a long long time where we’ve clearly addressed our 3 main weaknesses going into that window and it would also seem fairly clear that the players signed are actually wanted by the manager as part of their plan.

That is BACKING a manager properly.

Get these 3 in and then continue like this moving forwards then the fans will hopefully ease up a lot.

But Porro is the most important one by far ?

Probably best available RWB that we can realistically sign. Well, Brighton will probably sign a better one for 5m, but this feels similar to Romero signing. We can never have enough of technical players.

Irrelevant that Sporting are out. Even if they were still in it he could play.
We can register 3 players and doesn’t matter from where, or what competitions they have played in, they can be registered
Thanks, i thought as much. Just had a nagging doubt he might be cp tied or something like that

If anybody wants to spend the next hours staring at flightradar, flight euw9287 from European Flight Service on its way from London Farnborough to Lisbon now. Landing in 40 minutes, guessing it wil turn back quickly to London with our guy on board....
