@homer hotspur just interested who are your top 3 all time Spurs players ?
Just because when I watch him I see his potential not that he has lost the ball a few times (in the very few minutes he has played )Mine are Modric Hoddle and Waddle but I never saw any of them play at Gil's age so am not going to nit-pick

I think he looked a lot better in an open game with lots of space.

Last week against Frankfurt at 0-0 when things were tighter and more cagey he was getting muscled all over the shop, but last night given space to dribble into he was causing them serious problems (hence the pen).

Clearly still quite raw but he's got a lot of potential. Hard to see him being anything more than an impact sub at Spurs for the time being, though.

Again another one that our fans have just decided to abuse for no real reason.

When he came on last night there was GIL YOU ARE A PUSSY GIL YOU ARE SHIT!

Then the pass through to him he messes it up…..fans fuck off back to Spain etc then he works his nuts off wins it back sends defenders into a spin ……..suddenly the same fans what a player he has great potential……2 minutes later he loses the ball im sick of this prick ?!

never in my life have I seen an atmosphere so toxic to players as I did last night whatever happened to backing our own?

I remember years ago when fans would love the freunds,Atouba’s etc and the guys we were raging at now are 10x the players maybe a little love will help
That's shit That's not supporting your club Don't want to be like Man xxx Liverpool Chelsea fans

Absolute headless chicken charged up on Red Bull and coke. Thought he was so chaotic last night, but it paid off with the penalty. Despite his obvious talents, I still don't think he has a future with us (regardless of what I think). Still, I admire his energy and willingness to try. I just hope when he does eventually leave, he would have done enough for us to command a decent fee.

Think he'll eventually operate as an attacking midfielder.

He doesn't possess the strength or burst of pace to cut in quickly and neither does he have the speed/power to hug a touchline. He's better on the left but that's a bit one dimensional.

However, if he's looking to play in the hole he can use his dribbling and low gravity to twist and turn into certain situations or look for short passes.

I think he'd probably do well in a team like Brighton or Brentford.

I get the same feeling.

I think he's really talented but the combination of Conte as our manager and the physicality of the Prem isn't a good fit for him.

I think if he can find the right league and system that suits him he could do really well. It's just hard to see him making it at Spurs (although I'd love to be proved wrong).

Think you're being a bit harsh.

The entire midfield behind him had been replaced and was not settled. Kane was blowing too. Lucas was really erratic too.

Therefore a lot of our structure went out the window and the game became a bit chaotic. Very difficult for players to play with calmness in that scenario, especially a kid who's hardly played for us.

Thankfully the match thread doesnt represent the majority of the fan base!

Gil is being held to a higher bar due to how much we paid (not his fault obvs). Put whatever reasonable price you want on lamela and the range is 30-35mil outlay. If he was an academy prospect or come to us as a 10-12mil signing there'd be more patience with what we see from him. At the moment its not crazy to feel we could have spent that amount of money having a more immediate impact on our squad.

He looks very lively but so raw, hopefully we can mould that into a productive player, preferably soon.
I was at the game unfortunately and it was there I’ve heard so much abuse yesterday

He just needs to calm down and not do everything at a million miles an hour. I understand he's doing that because he's desperate to impress in the few minutes he gets.

He tries to compete physically but he's got to be cleverer and take up positions where he won't take body contact. I really have never seen a player be so weak in a duel, it must be something to do with how he moves and the way he is unafraid of contact because there have been weaker players.

He might be that bad combination of being lanky/wiry and weak. So he has a high centre of gravity and therefore can be pushed around easier than Modric or David Silva who were slight but have low centres of gravity and can change direction quickly.

Disappointing to hear, albeit not surprising knowing our fan base, didnt pick up much on tv beyond the usual groaning.

Unfortunately the cost of the transfer is going to weigh heavy on him until we see more return, same as it did Ndombele, Lo Celso and many more before them.

Hoping he can get on track for both his sake and the teams

He's probably also trying to play his way into spains WC squad too. Are spain in it? I have no interest whatsoever in this corrupt, human sacrificing event. A lot of pressure on a 21 year old, and it shows. It'll come. He's only 21.

I thought it was a hilarious cameo.

In the same move where he won the penalty, he went from looking like he'd be too small and not strong enough for my lads u12 team, to getting up off his arse and going bloody prime Ricky Villa. Showed absolutely superb technique.

I must say, I like him. I think technically he always looks good. I hope he makes it with us.

If I was a betting man I'd say we'll sell him and probably end up regretting it when he's playing week in week out somewhere.

Yeh it’s weird and sad how toxic it is at the stadium these days. Terrible atmosphere and it turns sour super quick. Whatever you think of the players support them when it comes to matchday. As for Bryan he’s obviously got bundles of ability. Rough diamond. Should probably be on loan this season but since he’s with us we need to try and give him minutes when we can. He can make the difference if we give him trust and tjme.

I am convinced if Harry’s ball had hit him it would have killed him smashed at it the poor boy ? and he’s not the strongest to be fair
I played to a decent level of football and that's the type of pass you give when you don't really want someone to score but you want to look like you tried.

Not saying that's what's happened in our game, but I've seen similar many times, only for the crosser to tell me after the game what their intentions were. :D
