We're going to try and squeeze even more if their financial state is there to take advantage of...

But we don't want to take the piss either and fuck them off...

Sounds like we're testing the boundaries with the negotiating at the moment...

That article could just be a summary of us offering players like winks rather than anything too worrisome.

Without reading the article it’s hard to know what they want but it’s understandable if they need the cash.

I just read a similar article by Maddock for The Mirror. The jist of it was still that they need to sell Richarlison before the end of the month.

It's a bit of a dangerous game as Newcastle have been lurking over DCL. If they found a way they could save Everton that way.

The Brazilian link earlier though suggested we'll pay their £60m asking price however.

It just says we've so far had 2 offers rejected (Winks + cash, Bergwijn + cash), which valued Richarlison at £50million. But Everton want a bit more.

Also gives a good little summary of their financial predicament:

...they have been hoping to sell a player on or before June 30. That would allow the proceeds of the transfer to be factored into their annual accounts, which would then ease concerns about complying with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability rules.

The rules allow for losses of no more than £105 million over three years with a mean taken for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, which were affected by Covid-19.

Everton announced losses of £120.9 million in the last financial year, £139.9 million in 2020, £111.8 million in 2019 and £13.1 million in 2018, but have also submitted figures to the Premier League that estimate the overall cost of the pandemic to be between £170 million and £220 million.

No Premier League club has so far broken profit and sustainability rules and it is unknown what punishment would be meted out should a commission be set up to investigate any breach. The sanctions could range from a warning and/or fine through to a transfer embargo or a points deduction.

This is the article. I think they want to sell but obviously not at a huge cut price.

As it mentions at the end, sell him now but do a deal for Winks/Bergwijn a week later. Seems a decent solution.

So if we get this over the line we’ll have signed the best player from two other premier league clubs. That’s big club behaviour. Shows some clout.

We tried to get the best person from Arsenal as well. Doris the tea lady starts on Monday.

We shouldn’t forget we helped them out with the payment terms for dele so they avoided any payment this accounting period. That has to stand for something.

Everton fans seem pretty blasé about this but you could see why the club would be concerned. Its unchartered territory and they can't afford to even risk a points deduction.

With Richarlison wanting a move for CL football it just makes sense as a solution.

I wonder if we'd go back to the table for Eriksen if Richarlison is locked in. If he's wavering towards Brentford again the money they'd offer would be within our reach.
Especially since Richarlison + Eriksen makes more sense to me than Raphinha + Eriksen.

One goal scorer & one creator.

I get the feeling there has been some movement today and Joyce's info is a little behind.

Chelsea paying similar for Raphinha kind of sets the price so I wouldn't be surprised if we end up getting near enough to their price for them to accept.

Was it ever confirmed if the cost for Romero (£42m) would need to come out of our £150m transfer budget?
