Surprised Devine played the full 90 minutes. Him and Chukwemeka really have been the 2 stand out players.

On another note sounds like next summer will be mad. Already mentioned U20 World Cup. There is also U17 Euros in Hungary ( qualifying yet to happen ) and via that you qualify for U17 World Cup in Peru. No firm dates for either tournament but both definitely next summer. I guess still catching up after Covid. We have players across all age groups so I’d imagine will have some involved.

Those 2 tournaments will be players born after Jan 1st 2006. So that’s basically this years intake of scholars. Shame for likes of Donley Kyerematen they’ve missed this tournament due to Covid.

@PCozzie I think there is another 17 year old in the squad.

Not sure if he has been getting as much game time as Devine.

Just looked Jamie Bynoe-Gittens is a few days younger and started the first 2 games and seems to be worth more than the rest of the squad
Yes I saw that too, he plays for Dortmund too and has appeared for their first team, he’s taken the same route as Jadon Sancho via Man City. I found an article about him and he is a winger compared to Neymar of all people! Wow one to look out for in the future. There is also a player at Juventus Samuel Iling, another winger who joined Juve from Chelsea.

norton-cuffy is physically impressive but he looks a bit loose technically to me, quite a few promising positions went to waste because of poor touch/control.

as for devine, no youth player is a nailed on sure thing but he's about as close as you're going to get. something would have to go very wrong somewhere for him to not at least make it as a pl-level player and right now there's no reason to think that won't be at spurs. sounds like the plan is to loan him next season which i think is fair but i wouldn't be averse to him staying around the first team here either, with the five sub rule and amount of games we'll have he could squeak the odd appearance here and there.

You might be a bit harsh on Cuffy that pitch was atrocious and hard to judge any player. He’s definitely a bit of a physical monster. While with a lot of players that does level out with some it doesn’t. Some can still maintain a real physical advantage. Even someone like Reece James depends a lot on physical ability even Walker with his pace. I do like that Cuffy is a bit odd unique looking with quite hunched shoulders. Real shame he’s with that lot hopefully Dortmund come along and nick him.

Devine reminds me of dele in the final third. How he finds space and how clinical he is. However I think he's a much better all-rounder.

Tashan Oakley-Boothe has joined Lincoln on season long loan from Stoke.
Believe he was highly rated, playing for England, but was another who couldn’t quite make it for us.

I‘ve just seen our youth team coach Yaya Toure on Twitter showing off his UEFA A Diploma. Congratulations to him, he’s obviously got ambitions and let’s hope it benefits Tottenham In the future.

Don't see much stand-out quality in this age group based on the games so far. Chukwuemeka the only one who looks a cert to make it at PL level, though Iroegbunam and Devine have looked good in patches.

Given we are short on HG options we should be looking at Chukwuemeka and perhaps Levi Colwill (tricky deal with Chelsea) but could help us out now and in the future.

I understand but ive seen many standout players at this tournament who don't develop to much. maybe their advantage at this level dissipates the higher they go.

what this u19 team are good at are the fundamentals, technically and tactically sound with a good mix physicality in there too. they also play for each other and always use the best option rather than any individual showcasing his skills. this means that theres a solid platform to build from in the future

Team up with T J Eyoma again. How come we had 2 of the England under 17 World Cup winners who didn’t play for the full team. Currently 6 of that team have become full internationals.

Oh yeah I wouldn't write any of them off, any more than I would assume a good tournament meant they were nailed on to become superstars. But it is a bit of a worry to me that the other players that are standing out so far are mainly the bigger lads (Scarlett, Norton-Cuffy) who won't have those advantages in men's football.

Not sure I agree that they are look at the technical basics from what I've seen, but they certainly understand their responsibilities and play the system well for the most part. But I don't see anyone bar Chukwuemeka who has that natural comfort on the ball the way, say, Foden or Mount did at that age. Plenty who can protect the ball because of their size, but again that is a trait that won't be as useful once they're competing against men.

When I started this post I was about to say the keeper looks very good, and in the time it's taken me to get to here he has nearly given a goal away tripping over his own feet, made an unbelievable save and then drilled a 50 yard pass straight to the feet of the full back.

Really sloppy pen to give away. Took far too long. No complaints about the decision.

That said, the ref giving England nothing so far. Very late and poor tackle by Italian just now. Clear yellow card not given.
