We’ve thrown it away :( relying on huge & unrealistic favours now. As well as getting our own house in order, which is proving difficult.

I reckon we’ll need to try and nick a result at Anfield.

Arse will beat West Ham & Leeds
Liverpool are in a close title race, are playing like a machine and it's at Anfield. Really can't see us getting anything. If it was Man City then we seem to have a psychological edge on them but Liverpool nearly always find a way against us, usually in the most painful way possible :(

Let’s also not forget that the last time arsenal were in this position the pressure got to them and they lost three games in a row they were expected to win.

Exactly. And most of this forum were saying with absolute certainty that ‘top 4 is over now’ when we lost to Man U. I get people need to be fatalistic to protect their emotions but we really just need to wait and see how it all pans out.

Yep. Could be worse. We could be Everton fans.

It looks that way but a couple of things
Negatives to be expected, the usual busted flush mentality from the squad.
The positive is we have given the whole of the league something to laugh at keeping spirits up post covid so not all bad ?

worth mentioning arsenal have been top four for 11 gameweeks whereas we've only been for five, and they've not been in any other competition since january (and had no european football at all). it's always been theirs to lose rather than ours.

I don't really see the CL as the be all and end all to be honest.
I agree to an extent.

Of course, I would prefer to be in it. But there's a good chance Tottenham Hotspur are knocked out early.

Now, if we took the Europa Cup more seriously and actually set out to win it, our chances are much higher and I'd much rather prefer winning that in a way that Sevilla often do than getting knocked out of the CL early.

I just don't see us ever replicated our run to the CL final.

I suppose we are in between a rock and a hard place. We need CL regularly to be a part of the big boys, so we pass on Europa and focus on getting top 4, yet we aren't big enough or have the pedigree of winners to consider ourselves as a serious CL team.

We’ve bottled it, let’s not pretend we haven’t. We got ourselves in a great position to finish the job & we look like blowing it as per.

Honestly, if West Ham win the EL this year, I’ll feel nothing if we won it the following season. We mock them about us being their cup final. Celebrating a trophy they just won would feel pretty hollow to me!

Seen a lot of people say they'd rather not be in the EL and that we finish 8th.

I think it's sad and has probably been brought on by our total lack of regard to try and win it. Because I would certainly look forward to a EL run and final.

Everyone mocks the Europa League but as soon as you reach the semi finals, and have a realistic chance of winning it, the mocking suddenly stops and it's considered an achievement - which it is.

Look at how we speak about WH, now they have a genuine chance of winning it, it is a problem for us and we are jealous.

I really hope that if we drop into it, Conte shows the players the way and treats it as a serious chance of silverware.

Not sure I agree to that. I'd definitely celebrate it. Would quickly forget WH's achievement

Credit west Ham where it’s due, despite the changes to their lineup today they still looked like a very cohesive and organised unit. They won’t be a walkover for the scum and will provide plenty of threat from set pieces still.

They want to guarantee European football again and so maybe it’s not a bad thing they lost today as they still need points. A draw would be great still.

also, as unlikely as it is, if Liverpool slip up today and next week with CITY picking up max points they could go admit defeat in the title race and go all guns blazing for the CL. It may mean some rotation against us.

clutching a straws and trying to remain optimistic ???

They certainly aren't slipping up today. They won't give up on the title until it's definitely done.

Our hope is that they find it difficult to balance the semi final.

However, Brentford had a weakened backline yesterday and were missing their most important midfielder and we still created jack.

We seem to do this quite often

Weird view. That's like saying you wouldn't have taken the PL title the season after Leicester won it. I don't get why people are so bothered by what rival clubs do.

True, considering we've been a basket case and they've had one game a week - sometimes less when they decide to rearrange things in their favour - I'm not sure they're going to suddenly become world beaters even if they get fourth. We've seen better teams drop down once multiple competitions hit them.

Champs League was always going to be a huge stretch given where we were. It's only because Arsenal are the likely takers of that spot that it hurts. Otherwise it'd be a half-decent season.

Honestly, nobody had this attitude last Saturday morning before Brighton.

To take one point in the last two, and the manner in which we did it, was extremely disappointing.

We had a huge chance...with the favourable fixtures and now have a huge mountain to climb in the space of a week.

It really isnt as cut and dry as everyone is making out which is why im still quite relaxed, this Arsenal side can be as flaky as us as we have seen. If they do go on to win the rest of their games then they deserve top 4, but that is a big ask. Lots of football still to be played.
