I think fatigue is also responsible for the inconsistency in general- Conte has brought in a high fitness regime and the players bodies aren't used to it. They perform well after a longer break between games but can't after short ones, hence WLWLWLL. He's trying to do pre-season catch up during the season.
Yeah I think that could be the case also, it's easy to forget all of that. Could also be the reason why we played the game last night as we did. I don't want to make excuses for not beating a championship side but I'm not sure we had the condition to press Boro as we all would have liked and playing a more reserved game was possibly the price we had to pay to play the same 11 players once again. It could have easily paid off if there wasn't sloppiness from practically all of our forward players but sloppiness is also a consequence of tiredness I guess. If fatigue was in the back of the coaching staff's mind when preparing for the game it doesn't seem like the most illogical approach, especially considering how good we normally are on the break.
I mean I won't hold my breath but hopefully we'll actually start to see a bit more consistency with more time in between matches as well as Skipp and Bentancur back.
