Not only that, but it's the stupid realm of "benefit of hindsight".Comments like this are deluded. Unless you are Chelsea or Man City you can’t just click your fingers and have a whole squad of ‘top players’.

"We should sign {GLC/Ndombele/Janssen/Sanchez/Bergwijn/Sess etc}"
"They want big money for them though"
"This club is too tight to back the manager"
club signs player
player struggles
"Imagine if we actually bought good players"
Football management games have corrupted reality
Well we could actually. Joe Lewis is worth 4 billion so if he ultimately wanted to he could surround Harry Kane with top players quite easily.Comments like this are deluded. Unless you are Chelsea or Man City you can’t just click your fingers and have a whole squad of ‘top players’.

That's exactly how Chelsea and City have done it.
He just doesn't want to.

Yes I fully understand he doesn't have a spare 4 billion sat in the bank mate ?.Just because Joe Lewis is worth £4 Billion it does not mean he has £4 Billion of disposable income in his bank account. The value of ENIC / Tottenham is probably a quarter of his overall worth. The Tavistock group is the bulk of his wealth. Yes he could sell off a string of hotels or other major assets (that generate regular income and increase in value and guarantee his family generations of wealth) to generate £400 Million (the maximum amount we can spend under FFP rules) and fund 2 or 3 world class players that may flop and be worth nothing to him and his family in 4 years time. Vlahovic fee + agent fee + salary for 4 years is close to £150M investment for a player that could flop badly or leave on a Bosman in 4 years (as he is potentially doing to Fiorentina). Owners like Abramovich (£14 Billion) and Sheikh Mansour (family fortune £1 Trillion) are significantly wealthier and also have different agendas and types of asset to dispose of.
Surely everyone can see/feel the Kane families frustrations?
The issue here is one for football, not Spurs. Football is in such a place where, unless you have the financial might of a nation backing you, you're not going to succeed - not in England anyway. ENIC end up getting all the flak when it should be directed at City, Chelsea and the powers that be for letting it get to this stage to begin with.Yes I fully understand he doesn't have a spare 4 billion sat in the bank mate ?.
As you point out though if he wanted he could raise the revenue to inject some funds into the squad. This is what the top teams we are a mile away from all have. We can chuck Newcastle into the equation now as well.
We do need a big invesrment on the first team squad if we want to compete though and keep the few top players we have. Otherwise you will never breach the gap.
Spot on mate totally agree with that it is a football issue. The issue here is one for football, not Spurs. We've run a business self-sustainably for 20 years - exactly how it works in the real world - and a couple of lucky people have won the footballing euromillions and now we can't compete. I don't see that as a Spurs problem, but a football problem.
For all of ENIC's flaws - and there have been many - I can't honestly criticise them for being rich but not quite rich enough.

A very nearly worked with Poch. We just did not have the increased revenue (and also the added cost of building the new stadium) to buy the 1-2 extra world class players we needed at the time.A won't work, you will always be behind the money unfortunately so it's B or bust basically.
