Jesus christ you lot are so fucking depressing.

It's called negotiating ffs. If we paid exactly what every club asked of us upfront every time we did a deal we'd be broke. Stop getting whiplash at any tiny bit of news, just wait and see what happens then have a meltdown if you fancy. Crucially we want him, they want to sell and we're in talks - that's positive if you ask me!

Why would you if you can pay later
Because we need a signing urgently. A signing who can cover two or three options. It’s £20million.
We don’t have time to mess about. Who are our alternatives and how far down the road are we with them. Because we need to fulfil promises made to our fantastic new manager. Because he’ll need time to understand how Conte wants him to play. Just pay the £20million. Because we are being seen as a difficult club to deal with and people will get wise to it if they haven’t already.

The last line in that article is absolutely baffling.

Surely we would of outlined and agreed our direction, in terms of our ambition, before Conte was hired.

I mean this just smells like our standard approach to a transfer window.
There's more to what's happening/not happening behind the scenes than meets the eye at the moment, but I'm not at liberty to post as yet. All I can say is the club still expect to get business done this window. IF it breaks I'll confirm what I've been told, but all I'll say is it's not anything to be concerned about, and neither is it a takeover(before people start reaching for the lube). Oh and Conte knows the situation and it's not a problem.

Please don't use "we suspect" as if it's remotely the consensus. You are worried. Not all of us by any stretch.

Apologies my old chap! Grammar failing me again! You are perfectly right as I suspect!
As others say though let’s see how this plays out before we start to threat and riot against our fearless leaders!

To be honest given the blood boiling has come from the loan to buy report on Troare I must say I still wouldn’t be that fussed if we didn’t sign him and he went else where as don’t rate him. However given it appears Conte wants him then we should do all we can to get him..

You have to trust the club know what they're doing and have clarity on the big picture.

If we sign Traore on loan and because of that he misses NLD but it allows us to sign a significant upgrade jan 31st we otherwise wouldn't be able to afford who can contribute to the remaining 18 games then I'd argue it's worth waiting.

Personally I have to trust that Paratici and Conte are signing players for the long term and so I believe the squad will reflect that come the end of January which may leave some underwhelmed but ultimately I have faith in their vision.
Don’t do it to yourself mate. We’ve all been here before and to assume anything different that what has happened historically will only end in disappointment.

Let him do it to himself - you then become numb to the pain, it then wont hurt as much when it happens the next time. Actually it still does. Fuck.

What's the most we're going to pay upfront for Traore, 5-10m? If that amount is going to hamper another signing (which again won't be the full fee in one hit) then our finances aren't as rosy as we've been lead to believe

I'm not expecting too much this window mate, As I said I think the business will reflect a long term vision which may leave some underwhelmed, I don't think I will be unless Vlahovic goes elsewhere in Jan. If he stays put then all fine with me. The summer is the one.

Well the obvious answer is pay up or move on to one if our alternatives. Maybe we should do that.
If Mendes is the issue then throwing more money at the situation solves nothing beyond making us poorer for no good reason. There's nothing to suggest we don't have alternatives that we're not exploring already - just because it hasn't hit the media doesn't mean it isn't happening.

We can blame Mendes all we want but if we offered the £20/22m suggested he'd be a spurs player now. I'm sorry but too many familiarities that this is down to Spurs yet again.

Of course I dont know the insides of this, nobody probably does but its a recurring theme with Spurs and Levy.
Maybe he wants 200k a week wages !

If Conte is honestly happy then maybe we can be patient. Just hope he really is.

Thanks Trix, good job we’re not allowed to guess on here because I’ve got absolutely zero clues what this could be referring to. I’m choosing to believe it’s positive though, cos why the hell else are we supporting a football team if not for some ‘hope’! You miserable bastards won’t drag me down!! ??

I don't really get the fuss over an obligation loan? We will still be getting the player just shifting finances a little but down the line.

I totally get the games this month he would be needed for, but let's be honest he wouldn't have started this weekend as he would have barely had time to train.

Everybody here would highlight a striker is the biggest priority as we have no other options and Son is already out. What's to say we are not looking at brining in a striker and need more money for that deal to go through so pushing this to a loan with obligation helps get it done?

I get we all don't trust the club due to things in the past but let's just let it play out.

The difference is we have key players out and this next couple of weeks is huge in regards to fixtures. A busy bill where we need more than an 11 in key fixtures that will determine our season.

Of course, but it's about the war rather than this battle isn't it? Rather do what needs to be done to get the squad in the place it needs to be even if it takes a couple of extra weeks, imo, than overspend to try and get a player into the squad for a couple of fixtures that are at best a 50/50.

I'd rather lose the NLD and vs Chelsea without Traore, if it meant us getting an extra signing later because we managed to defer his fee and put it towards getting someone else too.

Well said, also ITK stated earlier today that its not Us or Wolves play silly buggers, its the silly bugger that is Mendes

I can understand if we are going after £40/50m plus players. Then there needs to be patience.

This is a player now available for £20m. Not a significant amount in Prem League terms. Reinforcements are needed quickly and this shouldnt be a hard deal to close so I can fully understand the negativity and moaning for the Traore deal in particular. IF rumours are true, we offered £18m when Wolves want £20m. Its a joke. So i fully understand the frustration for deals like this one and not deals like Vlahovic.

And if there were two £20M players we just hand over £40M?
