He was a lot more chilled out on the touch line than against Leeds. That’s for sure.

When Winks came on and we went to 3 in cm we played Winks as the deeper of the 3 with Hojbjerg out towards the left and Skipp on the right.

It seemed a strange decision. Would have preferred to see the 3 of them them sit narrower to close off the space, or at least 2 sitting back rather than just winks.
It made sense - Skipp and PEH could press higher and support the forwards in their early pressure, with Winks providing additional protection to enable that press to move up the pitch. Stop the opposition creating chances by not letting them anywhere near the final third, but without losing depth.

It also meant that in the case of a potential break, Winks would be the one most likely to use the ball - and in theory he has a greater range of passing than the other two. You can see from Winks' couple of little cameo's he's been busting a gut to provide the defensive cover, as well as trying to be much more expansive and positive with his passing.

Essentially, it looks like Conte is trying to turn Winks into the DLP he was always supposed to become - we'll see if he really has the required talent.

I can't believe it's been 15 minutes and you haven't had a jokey reply about what this stands for yet...

Does the P really stand for playmaker?

Winks has looked better than he ever did under Jose or Nuno.

Not saying he has been great nor should he stay but he has looked more like a competent player and has actually looked to move the ball quickly and not hide.

Agree. Tbh that was always going to happen once we went back to a manager who values possession.

Nuno and Jose had him defending space, which his not his game. He will always look better in a team where team mates are near him and have good movement so he can play quick give and goes - his natural game.

I just ❤️ This man. His reaction after yelling “up, up, up” at Lucas to press and then when Lucas blocks the pass because of it. My manager.

Yeah, but you can't go just using facts to ruin the narrative!
Just to play devils advocate that could just be because he played lots if simple passes (not saying he did but stats like that can be misleading).

Really? I was in and out of the living room as decorating etc but I thought we were mostly outplayed. Other than reggies cross for sons goal I thought both wing backs looked utterly pants at crossing. Sanchez was poor. Again. No creativity in the middle until Kane dropped deep. (So basically playing without Kane as a striker) one of holberg or skipp need dropping. Stick Kane in there ffs. And put Berg up top with son.
Out played? What did they create? We created all the best chances, we’re comfortable and had some good play. It was a good efficient win

I remember watching Inter last season when they went in that storming run towards the title and one thing that struck me was how incredible the team spirit was.

I'm looking forward to hopefully getting that again.

Quite a lot of positives so far.

Press conferences - I know it's not too important for the team but for fans it's nice to hear actual answers from Conte, in depth and no hiding. Actually worth watching after Nuno and his non-answers.

Set pieces - from the Brentford game, everyone was buzzing about the second goal, but we scored those types of goals under José. The first goal came from a short corner (rehearsed) with Moura and son, that impressed me more.

Patterns of play - you can see it, Kane always in the same space for a direct pass from defenders, Davies and Romero/Sanchez overlapping and becoming attacking threats.

Reguillon and Davies- seem to be reborn under Conte, I was sure we needed replacements but they could be great there.

Workrate and desire - unfair to pick out any individuals but as a team a massive increase.

Still improving, but there are massive signs we are on the right track.

My only concern is the right hand side. Emerson, Sanchez and Lucas. My concern is quality in possession, Sanchez looked very nervous in the last game, Emerson was excellent on the defensive side but does he have enough going forward? Lucas, still loses the ball far too many times. I'd personally be interested to see what he does with bergwijn, possibly in either the Lucas or Emerson role.

Apart from that, there are some really good signs we are heading in the right direction.

Mate you're arguing with a bloke who didn't watch the match, was high on paint fumes, and basing his opinion on the fact his six year old didn't bother watching the end of the match.

My six year old didn't watch any of it so based on his logic I'm really starting to lose confidence in Conte.

I've been enjoying AC's pressers like many on here . He comes across as pretty honest .

But there's one thing he said a coupla pressers ago . He said he had had no discussions with Levy about money for team rebuilding, seemed pretty sure about this . Do we believe this ? or is this question so hot that he is OK about avoiding the truth here ?
Its hard to imagine Conte not bringing this up in early discussions given his past .

He is straight up lying. No way will that not have been a key part of their discussions. Plus if Levy didn't give the right answers Conte wouldn't be our Manager now. All my opinion but I am confident I am right.

Yep , I s'pose there's no halfway comment to deflect this presser question....he seems pretty straight about many things
but went for the black is white option here it looks like .

It depends on the question and the context. For example, he may have had a conversation with Paratici about money for team rebuilding and Paratici had that conversation with levy. Or the question may have specifically been about for January and when they discussed new players and money they spoke about the summer.

Lying probably, Pochettino lied about it constantly too. If he says yes then journos will start asking about which players need selling and upgrading and it's always awkward.
