Ketchup is full of sugar, has 27g per 100g, that's nearly 7 teaspoons of sugar. Low on calories high on sugar. Mayo has hardly any sugar. Better to count the carbs than calories

You wouldn't put 7 teaspoons of sugar in a cup of coffee
I don’t even put 1 teaspoon of sugar in coffee. Black(preferably dark roast) or nothing. But I have seen many put 6+ in coffee. Dunkin Donuts serves that shit routinely whenever someone doesnt specify how much sugar.

Banning ketchup and mayo will do very little on its own, but together with other small tweaks in diet and training, it will compound itself and potentially bring about significant results.

It’s a bit like maintaining a good relationship with your spouse. A relationship where you do something small but nice for him/her every day is more likely to last and be a happy one, than one where you barely do anything for each other apart from a grand gesture once a month, quarter or year.

Conte said in an interview after the Everton game that they weren’t unfit before, they just aren’t fit enough for his type of football. That’s where this has come from. The rest is just noise and nonsense, which people have gulped down as usual.
The ketchup/Mayo issue is a red herring. The kitchens at the training ground can knock up their own health versions anyway, which I suspect they have as an alternative.

But you wouldn't have 100g of ketchup in a coffee either. I have about 10g in mine.

It's not about the ketchup IMO. It's about the kind of food that you put ketchup on.
This 100% 1tsp of ketchup has 17 calories... how much ketchup are they using to get up to 200 calories??? its more that the foods you would eat with ketchup tend to be heavy carbs and without the ketchup they will be less likely to eat them. I'm not a professional athlete and I can stay lean as long as I limit bread, Sugar and Beer. With the intense training they do it is pretty damning if 17 calories of ketchup a day is putting them at a disadvantage.

Is brown sauce banned as well? Just trying to keep stuff on topic now that this has become the Ketchup thread.

All these reports of the banning of pizza, ketchup, mayonnaise, brown sauce, Worcester sauce, all other canteen style sugary food need to be taken with a pinch of salt.
