If ITK is spot on then he turned us/Levy down in summer so why would he leave mid season as you say.

Let’s not delude ourselves, we are a massive mess.

HOWEVER, 2 things.
1) money talks
2) he isn’t getting a top 4 job anytime soon so if he wants to move to a PL club with better players and infrastructure and bigger budget and build something then we would be a fairly attractive option for him
My guess is he won't be interested.

As you say our big hope is that we've approached him differently this time and somehow he believes we're the best offer he's going to get.

I can't see Utd, City, Liverpool or Chelsea going for him, even if their position does suddenly become available. Arteta is currently seeing an improvement in performances and results.

So we might be the best option for him if he thinks he can work with Levy and Paratici.

Surely there will be some sort of confirmation tonight or tomorrow morning regarding Nuno's future, whether he's staying or going. We have a game on Thursday and I'd assume the players will be back in training tomorrow

How about there's not a single one i'd take for Spurs.

Bruno Lage at Wolves maybe, but that's a push.

If you’re suggesting that Conceicao and Fonseca are identical in style and ethos to firstly each other, and secondly to all of our previous Portuguese managers, on the basis that they are all Portuguese, then you’re an ill-informed idiot at best.

Replace the word “Portuguese” here with Indian, or Nigerian, or Filipino, or Jamaican, and see how that sounds.

Jesus fucking Christ.
I'm probably wrong but aren't those against a Portuguese manager due to them being Mendes clients rather than footballing decisions?

As much as I want Potter as our new manager there is zero chance we will get him mid season. From all the noise that has come out about him and the rumours we were interested in the summer doesn't seem either that he is keen to work under Danel Levy.

Is mad how we built a billion pound stadium, one of the best training grounds in Europe, challenged for a couple of league titles, got to a champions league final and it’s all led to us being unable to convince a manger to leave Brighton & Hove Albion to become our manager. Daniel doing a blinding job.

Well they’re not all Mendes clients so if that’s the case, then it compounds my suspicion that they know fuck all

To be fair mate we've had three Portuguese coaches in the last 10 year's and they've all been poor or bad appointments, you can't say people are saying this because it's a slant on a nation. It's just that we've had three coaches from one country and they've all sucked. It's natural to assume the next will be no different.

If the last three coaches had been English and all been crap people would be saying we need to get someone from the continent or something.

I'd rather Potter than Conte (although certainly would be happy with the latter)

Just think Potter is a man you'd back for the long long term and could build successful foundations for years to come.

Shouldn't have turned our noses up at Potter before appointing Nuno. We should've thrown the kitchen sink at him, don't tell me we couldn't tempt away the Brighton manager, he fits the bill in so many ways and we absolutely blew it by not seriously pursuing him and penny pinching our way to Nuno.

Definitely getting serious now with Beeb running headlines, on the way out ?

Good Good Good as soon as the BBC start running with the story makes me feel more confident that something will be happening!

Surprised? Christ man, just make an account on here. Will take all of 5 minutes to read the crowd. You'll also get some insight in to A&C's bowel movements, gardening tips and a nice thread to post about things that are grinding your gears.

I don’t believe it tbh. For all his faults I cannot imagine that he is surprised at all. He will be well aware of the bad feelings towards him. Nothing quite like a slap in the face like yesterday to drive it home though.

Dismissing the idea of a manager for being English would be equally idiotic

Have to admit I’m shitting it about the next manager appointment. Levy has to get this right. The names being linked are getting me worried, if true, it’s like he still doesn’t get it.

I'm a few pages back. But, had to comment on this. How are we back to "Levy HAS to get this right"?! He HAD to get in right after he sacked Poch and then again after Jose.

Writing off a whole nationality based on the traits of 3 individuals.

There’s a word for that.

It’ll come to me…

Can't overlook the fact that there is a tactical and coaching culture in Portugal that most of them follow, which to be fair is an impressive one that have given them and football a lot. But it's also proven to not work at Tottenham, and we're tired of the previous three attempts to make it work here. We need another direction, and even the connection to either Portugal or Mendes will be off to a dead start.
